Bobby James Moore, 77 of Naylor, passed away Monday morning, March 1, 2010, in South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born Nov. 18, 1932 in Lanier County, Georgia to the late Robert and Codie Ganas Moore. He retired as an SMSgt from the United States Air Force having served in the Vietnam War. Following his service to his country he returned home to Lanier County, Georgia. He began working with the USDA Federal Crop Insurance Program where he worked for 15 years. After retiring from both his U.S. Air Force and USDA careers he continued to pursue his passions of Pecan Farming, being a Dad, and Granddad. He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church, Summerville, S.C. Masonic Lodge, and was a Shriner. He was an avid fisherman and a Valdosta Wildcat Fan. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Bradford, a sister, Christine Tomlinson, sister-in-law, Betty Moore, and a brother-in-law, Avery Tomlinson.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Letha Moore of Naylor; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Wayne Sirmans, Naylor, Maeve and Roger Whitworth, Bainbridge; two sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Charlene Moore, Douglas, Greg Moore and fiancé Meg Giddings, Naylor; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Virgil Moore, Naylor, Edward and Jean Moore, Chula, Ga., Raymond and Wendy Moore, Naylor; special aunt, Lela Tomlinson, Warner Robins, Ga.; special friends, Dawson and Latrelle Darsey, Stockbridge, Ga.; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in the Good Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. A.M. Anderson and Dr. Fritz Fountain officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery where full Military Honors will be rendered. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening, March 2, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Good Hope Cemetery Fund, 6758 Good Hope Circle, Naylor, Ga., 31641.
