Services for Bobby Lenis Wells, age 76, of Lindale are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, in Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler with the Rev. Lanny Bridges, Dr. Paul Powell and Dr. Ron Wells officiating.

Interment will follow in Lindale City Cemetery with services under direction of Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home in Lindale.

Mr. Wells died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, in a Tyler hospital.

He was born on March 11, 1935, the son of the late Lenis and Etta Pauline Locke Wells, and graduated from Lindale High School in 1953, where he was on the Eagle football team. Mr. Wells served in the 49th Armored Division of the Texas National Guard and was the great-great-great-grandson of William Wells, a defender of the Alamo.

Mr. Wells owned and operated Bob Wells Nursery and was a member and served many organizations, boards and committees including the Boy Scouts of America, Lindale Eagle Booster Club president, Lindale Rotary Club president, American Red Cross, Texas A&M Horticulture Advisory Board, Texas Fruit Growers president and vice president, Smith County Board of Directors at Timberline Baptist Camp, Smith County Farm Bureau president, vice president, director and chairman of the board, LISD Tax Equalization Board chairman, Smith County Grand Jury, Smith County 7th District Court vice chairman, Grand Jury Commission Board, Lindale First Baptist Church member for 52 years and ordained as a deacon in 1970, Green Acres Baptist Church member for 24 years, and a member of the Sonrise Prayer Ministry for 28 years.

Mr. Wells is survived by his wife of 57 years, Clista Wells; children and spouses, Bobby G. and Sandy Wells, Ann Elizabeth and Ronald Jordan, Mark Allen Wells, Ronny L and Tanya Wells and Lenis Kyle and Casey Wells, all of Lindale; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie Wells Myrick, Christopher Wells, Jonathan Wells, Daniel Wells, Adam Wells, Jeremy Wells, Brian Wells, Carrie Jordan, Josh Jordan and Charles Jordan; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Ron Wells; and by sisters, Joy Wells and Mary Anderson.

Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Charles Jordan, Chris Wells, Josh Jordan, Jonathan Wells, Daniel Wells, Adam Wells, Brian Wells and Jeremy Wells.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home in Lindale.

Donations may be made to Green Acres Baptist Church Music Ministry.
