Bonnie McVickar Wachter Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 27, 2025.
Bonnie McVickar Wachter, 77, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, in Folsom, California. Born on October 20, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, Bonnie lived a life marked by warmth, vitality, and a deep appreciation for connection and community.

Bonnie was the beloved wife of 56 years of Roger and devoted mother to Susan and Andrew. She welcomed son-in-law Josh and daughter-in-law Nicole. She cherished her role as a grandmother to five granddaughters- Sophia, Adelyn, Aubrey, Avery, and Autumn. Her family was the heart of her world, and she found immense joy in spending time with them.

She is also survived by her brother James. Bonnie was preceded in death by her father Franklin, mother Alice and brother Robert.

Known for her kind and generous spirit, Bonnie had an innate ability to make others feel welcome. Her social nature made her a natural at forming friendships wherever she went. Whether striking up conversations with strangers or hosting gatherings for friends and family, she brought people together with grace and warmth.

Bonnie had a passion for movement and expression-she loved to exercise and dance throughout her life. Bonnie tap danced in a number of local music productions in her 20s and 30s. These activities brought her both joy and vitality. A voracious reader as well, she loved to read non-fiction books, especially auto-biographies.

Bonnie's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May her legacy of kindness and connection continue to inspire all who were touched by her presence.

One of my favorite work trips was the one where I spent the following weekend with Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Roger. They picked me up in San Francisco on Friday after the work part of the trip was over, took me on a whirlwind tour of the city (including a fabulous dinner), and then whisked me off to their home for a weekend of wine tasting and visiting with Susan and her family. Thirteen years later, it´s still a great memory. Bonnie was a kind, funny, adventurous person, and I know her family and friends will miss her enormously.

We are so sorry to hear that Bonnie has passed away. I have such lovely memories of Bonnie in Hilversum in The Netherlands where I met Bonnie in an exercise class at the local gym and we struck up a friendship from then onwards, meeting up regularly. Ewout and I also went to stay with Bonnie and Roger at their house in California when we were on a road trip on the west coast of America. After moving back to America Bonnie and Roger came back to Hilversum to visit us and several other of their Dutch friends. Bonnie was such a fun loving and happy person. I will always remember her with such fondness.
Our deepest condolences to Roger, Susan, Andrew and all her grandchildren at this very sad time.
Much love Carolyn + Ewout
