BRADLEY DEAN BOSEKER
February 13, 1960 - June 6, 2025
If you knew Brad, you knew he was a man of character and a real character! You would be hard-pressed to find anything he enjoyed more than spending time with his wife, children and extended family, talking to others about Jesus, or enjoying good whiskey and a cigar.
From a young age, Brad had a sensitivity to God's presence in his life. It's that awareness that cultivated in him a compassionate heart, leading him to champion the underdog and advocate for those in need. Brad asked Jesus Christ to be his Savior not long after being hit by a car when he was riding his bike as a young child. When he was in his 20's Brad decided to follow Jesus wholeheartedly and make the Bible, God's inspired Word, the foundation of his life.
Brad graduated from Whetstone High School in 1979 and then set off for a grand adventure in Alaska hoping to find a job and planning to homestead. But God had other plans, and Brad eventually returned to Columbus and was introduced to Xenos Christian Fellowship (now Dwell Community Church). There he enjoyed Christian relationships, studied the Bible, and met his "Pamie," Pam (Gabel-Manning.) Brad and Pam were married November 17, 1984, and the two led home groups, mentored young Christians, and taught the Bible-all by God's grace.
Brad worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) for 31 years, retiring just 5 months ago. His daily morning proclamation was, "Pamie, it's Saturday again!" Brad was a walking miracle because of the obedience of one man, Michael Thabet, to God's call to give Brad one of his kidneys in 2019. It's a beautiful story that declares God's sovereignty and compassion over coincidence and apathy.
Married for 40 years, both Brad and Pam would tell you their marriage longevity is a true testament to what God can do when you let God lead. Through ups and downs, trials and triumphs, Pam and Brad grew to be best friends who learned to speak each other's love language and parted much more in love than the day they married.
Brad was wise, discerning, and loyal. If you talked with Brad for just a few minutes, you discovered he was a fierce advocate and protector of his wife and children, Alex and Jake. He was a "hands-on" dad who couldn't get enough time with them.
Brad had the joy of seeing Alex complete her Associates Degree and find her niche at Kroger as the most-loved and appreciated employee in the store. He was proud of Alex's compassion for those in need and for her exceeding generosity with her hard-earned money.
Brad was proud of Jake, his "Bud Bud," as he watched him enlist in the military to serve and protect the country Brad loved so much. Brad never tired of showing photos of Jake on deployment or holding weapons to anyone who would indulge him. When Jake married Alessandra Cecilia Russo Reyes, Brad was thrilled to see Jake begin this new chapter with such a wonderful, gifted woman. Brad adored Alessandra and welcomed her as a second daughter.
Brad's story would not be complete if we didn't mention his first furry friend and constant companion, Barney "The Wonder Dog." At age 13 Brad prayed Barney would live until Brad's first child was born. Barney, a German shepherd/collie mix, lived nearly 21 years until daughter Alex was 18 months old.
Brad's greatest desire would be that everyone reading this would come to know Christ personally. He might share Romans 10:9 "...that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved." Brad would urge you not to wait and to join him in choosing Jesus.
Brad was preceded in death by his parents, James "Jim" and Deveda "Dee" Boseker, brother James "Jimmy" Boseker, and cousin Steve Boseker. Brad was deeply loved by his extended family, including nieces Leah Cook, Erin (Brandon) Huff and Erin's children, Payton and Logan; Jimmy's wife Becky and their children, "the Triplets", including Jared (Carly), Hannah, & Michaela (Andrew) Collins; brothers- in-law, Mark (Susan) Gabel and nieces, Mairi and Libby; Michael Gabel and niece, Rachel (Ben) Ratkowski and nephew, Matthew.
Brad also leaves behind dear friends Ashley and Mario Ramirez and honorary grandchild, Rosie,as well as special high school buddies Pete (Donna) Besant, John (Lori) Buchanan, Mark (Cathy) Wehner, and others too numerous to mention.
Brad's Celebration of Life will take place Friday, June 20, 2025, at 6:30 pm at Dwell Community Church Café, 1390 Community Park Drive, Columbus, Ohio.
