Bradley Helms Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 23, 2025.
Bradley Weatherford, TX Alan Helms Bradley Alan Helms, born and raised in Fortville, Indiana, passed away on July 21, 2025, in Weatherford, Texas, at the age of 60.

Brad graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1983 and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana State University, where he was also a proud member of the Alpha Tau Omega (ATO) fraternity.

In his younger years, Brad loved playing golf and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. As life evolved and he became a father, his greatest joy and passion became being a supportive and present parent. He poured his heart into his family, always putting them first and showing up with love, strength, and unwavering dedication.

He is survived by his loving wife, Brandy Helms; his children, Drew Divin, Elizabeth Divin, Cassidy (Maysen) Harrison and Addison Helms. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda (Earl) Lamson and Beth (Bob) Willson.

Brad was preceded in death by his parents, Alan Helms and Sarah (Ruddell) Helms.

Brad will be remembered as a funny, kind, and sweet soul with a strong will and a heart full of love. He was an all-around great guy who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His warmth, humor, and generous spirit made him deeply loved by all who knew him.

In accordance with Brad's wishes, the family will not hold a formal memorial service. Instead, a private celebration of life will be held with close family to honor and remember him in a way that reflects the love and joy he brought into their lives.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to either the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) Foundation or to Addison Kate's College Fund in Brad's memory.

I will miss my friend Brad tremendously. He was so very kind and generous and funny and just a delight to be around... We had many many good times together that thankfully will flood my memory forever. Rest easy, my friend and with a little luck I´ll see you again someday down the road.

What an amazing human, father, brother, uncle, and friend. This photo really captures the smile from Brad´s heart! To know him, Beth, Linda, Sarah, and Alan was a blessing that I´ll always hold dear. Resting with Jesus now, or should we say, singing and dancing to his favorite country songs! Peace be with Brads loving family

Brad and I worked in the same office at American States Insurance. He was a bright light who was fun to be around and funny. Sigrid- another co-worker and I -gave Brad advise when he indicated he was going to ask a TV gal out on a date who did commercials and who had big boobs. We told him that in 10 years that they would be down to her waist. His expression was priceless and we could not stop laughing. It has been a long time since I have seen Brad but it seems like yesterday. He is one of those guys you never forget and his impact on you will never be forgotten. And that big contagious smile! I won´t be able to make it to Texas but I will have a couple of beers in his memory!!
