BRANDON SMART Obituary
Age 32, of Marion Center, formerly of Plum, died Saturday, July 31, 2010 as a result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident. He was born in 1978 in Plum to Robert W. and Rebecca J. Leff Smart. Brandon was a graduate of Plum High School and attended IUP, where he was active in IUP Hockey Assoc. both as a player and coach. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his daughter, and with family and friends. He was employed at H.B. Culpeppers Restaurant for the past 14 years, most recently served as manager. Brandon is survived by his daughter Maylyn Rebecca, Marion Center; his girlfriend Kendra Snyder, Marion Center; his father of Plum; two sisters, Lauren Mannetti and husband Frank, Plum; Lindsey Smart and fiance Chris Moore, Plum; his aunt Donna Haines and her husband Neil, Plum; his cousin Patrick Haines and wife Mandy, North Huntingdon. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1996, and by his cousin Tracy McGuire in 2007. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 1 to 3 and 5 to 9PM at the BOWSER-MINICH FUNERAL HOME, Indiana, where funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 AM. Private interment will be made in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Penn Hills. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a memorial account for Maylyn, his daughter, at PNC Bank, Farmers Office, Philadelphia St, Indiana, Pa 15701

I met Brandon at IUP years ago. Although I haven't seen him in quite some time, the main thing I remember about him was his sense of humor. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family and close friends... especially his father, sisters, girlfriend, and daughter. May you all find peace in the memories that you built with Brandon. He will forever live on in your hearts.

To Brandons Family-- I first met Brandon while working at Culpeppers during my time at IUP, and continued to call him a friend after my time working together. While we have parted ways, I am thinking of you and him at this time. To one of the best, most honest guys I know- you will be missed

To Brandon's Family: I have know Brandon for a lot of years on & off the ice, as a hockey official & after at cp's as a friend. He ALWAYS made sure he said Hello! I am sure you know what a great guy he was. I will miss him dearly!!!

i am so sad to hear this. we had great times at iup when we were younger and he still always made me smile in recent years when i would run into him on my trips home to indiana. he was passionate about hockey and proud of his family. i will truely miss you brandon.

Dear Mr. Smart and Family (Kendra and Maylyn Rebecca),
You do not know me but Smartie befriended me when I first moved up to Indiana PA four years ago and he was always a gregarious and enjoyable gent who brought smiles and laughter to everyone he came in contact with. It was an honor to have known him and I just wanted you to know that he was truly honorable and dedicated to his new baby Maylyn and girlfriend Kendra.
He also spoke highly of his family and brought them often into any conversation.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Please take comfort in the knowledge that Smartie is now in a much better place with no wants, no needs, no hardships, and no suffering.

I just heard the devastating news. Brandon was always such a great friend and could ALWAYS make me smile. I'm in disbelief as I am trying to fathom the news that he is gone. Smarty was in incredible person and brought a smile to everyone. He spent hours teaching my son bubble hockey and told him to make a funny face at goalie when he is in a shoot out. Funny enough it worked. Kendra, Maylin and his family I am so sorry for your loss. He will be greatly missed. We love you smarty.
