Brandon White Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 3, 2025.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brandon Floyd White on December 19, 2024, at the age of 69. Brandon was born in Pasadena, CA on August 11, 1955 to Fred and Lenore White. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 47 years, Robin; their four children: Brette (Goose), Connor (Bear), Abbey (Noie), and Shafer (Buck), and 9 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Kristen Gillespie, as well as a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his brother, Rick.

Brandon was known for a quirky and unconventional outlook on life. He cared deeply about his family and bore struggles with dignity and endurance. He found great enjoyment and solace in nature, loved surfing and backpacking in the Sierras, and passed on these passions to his family. He nurtured his many friendships through sharing a cigar on the golf course or whiskey and a game of poker.

He was a deep thinker who frequently wandered outside of the box and resisted all attempts to reel him back in. We knew him as someone who had a deep compassion and sensitivity hiding under a slightly gruff exterior. People were always more important to him than money, and he didn't require us to be perfect.

He carried his sensitivity and appreciation for nature and beauty into his woodworking. Brandon was a master carpenter and general contractor for more than 40 years. He proudly founded and operated White & White Construction in San Clemente, CA. He enjoyed working with his two sons, passing along the family trade, and was so proud when his sons took over the company. His legacy of thinking outside of the box led him to be a carpenter that took a unique approach to problem solving and design.

We loved him and are grateful he was in our lives and we in his. He is missed. All are welcome to join us for a memorial reception to be held at Shorecliffs Golf Club at 501 Avenida Vaquero in San Clemente, CA, on January 12, 2024 from 1-4pm.

Brandon was in our wedding. He was such a great friend to my late husband Robert Braley. Rest in peace boys and enjoy heaven together. See you soon.

"B" was my first cousin. He was nine years younger than I am, so even though I got to know Rick and Kris fairly well (considering we live in SC and they lived in CA), Brandon was often left out of the adventures on the farm - as we rode mules, horses, go-carts, and swam in the Oconee River. But, in the late 1960´s my family (sans Snip) moved to CA and my Dad and Brandon became big buddies - especially hunting and golfing together. When I took leave and came to visit the folks, we would gather for a big family reunion with Uncle Loring´s family, and that´s when I got to know my very special younger cousin, Brandon. He seemed to smile all the time as if he had a little secret about you - interesting sense of humor that would crack me up. He enjoyed "discussing" philosophical topics and revealed a depth that I hadn´t recognized when we were younger. I´m blessed to have experienced those brief but meaningful times with him. Things that were always obvious to me: he loved, treasured his beautiful wife, Robin and adored his kids. None of us is perfect, but in his heart, he wanted to be the perfect husband and father. Rick and B had a relationship that defines the love of brothers. Losing Rick was a true tragedy, enormous tragedy for B.
Robin and family, know that I love you and will unfortunately miss B´s Memorial service, but will diligently try to see you here, there or in the air. Love, Snip

Whenever I think of Brandon, I love to remember when I was in high school and Brandon was building a beautiful bookshelf in our home. When I would come home from school Brandon would take a break and we would share a cup of "Morning Thunder" tea and some conversation. That tea had a very earthy, strong flavor, kind of like "B". Our conversations were deep, and Brandon always had insightful and encouraging words regarding the issues I faced as a teenager. I will miss him.

My favorite memory about Brandon which I think gives a picture of how he approached life.

We were on a surf trip in Punta de Mita. Each morning we would have a local take us out on a boat to a favorite spot. After an hour of surfing I caught a faint smell of a cigar and thought what the heck . I looked up and saw Brandon in the back of the boat reading his book (with two pairs of glasses....one for reading and the other sunglasses) smoking a big stogie and just soaking up the rays.

He could have been in the water catching any wave he wanted but no ...he was doing his vacation his way and loving every minute.
