Brenda Baker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 7, 2018.
Brenda Yvette Baker passed away peacefully in her home in Leander, Texas on Tuesday February 6, 2018 at the age of 53.

Brenda was born on May 20, 1964 in Austin, Texas to Fernando Cantu, Jr and Sylvia Cantu. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1982. After high school she married her one and only love Jay Baker. The Baker family was complete when their son Weston Cole Baker was born in 1992.

Brenda was an avid trail runner, what started off as a hobby and escape from a fussy newborn turned into passion that spanned 25 years. She started with road running but her love grew to trail running where she completed an insane amount of all night runs. Brenda also loved her rose garden and tending to her yard. Brenda was raised Catholic and had a strong faith that was reflected though out her life. Brenda will be remembered for her love of family, her infectious smile, and her passion for living life.

Brenda is survived by her mother Sylvia Cantu of Austin, Texas; her husband of 34 years Jay Baker, and son Weston Baker, her sisters Liza Gonzales and Holly Keen Reimer of Austin, Texas.

Friends are cordially invited to a memorial service at three o'clock in the afternoon, on Sunday February 11,2018, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.

What has always inspired me in the dozens of times I shared the trails with Brenda and her amazing group of friends is her positive attitude, strong spirit and relentless determination. That determined look in her eyes, gentle smile and relentless forward motion will remain a testimony of her strength and faith!

Brenda you have touched my life! Out of the hundreds I ran and had a beer with, you stood out! I wish I were closer... And in tough times I will remember your great determination, attitude and faith.

Rest in peace, run free!

Will forever remember pres club trips and great memories with Brenda and JB. The spirit in which she lived life was infectious. B was a great person, mother to W and wife to JB. I am not quite sure the world will ever see another fighter like her again. My wife and I are very thankful to have befriended Russ. I wouldnt be surprised if she isnt knitting Jesus something as we speak. She is missed.

Jay, I am a friend of your sister Cindy Brewer. I never met Brenda, but I feel as if I know her. What a strong person she must have been! Cindy and I have had many conversations of how Brenda lived her faith and how she showed so much courage during her last years. May God comfort you and your family as you face the days ahead.
