Brenda Joyce Coates, 79, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Born on July 29, 1943, in Kingsport, Tennessee, she was a life-long resident of Blountville.
Brenda graduated from Holston High School and was the owner and hairstylist for Jean’s Beauty Salon for 25 years and at Total Look for 20 years. She loved her family deeply and was devoted to her siblings, nieces and nephews. Brenda was a member of Wheeler United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nell and D. H. Coates; brothers, Jimmy Coates and Clifford DeVault; and sister, Hazel Anderson.
Brenda is survived by her brothers; Jerry Coates (Kathy), Cecil Laws (Katherine); and sister, Kay McPherson. She is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews, and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service for family and friends on Wednesday, June 28th at 11:00 a.m. in the Garden of Solomon at Hamlett Dobson Memorial Park, 2630 Highway 75, Blountville, Tennessee, 37617. Reverend Tony Collins will officiate, and pallbearers will be family and friends.
