Brenda Fleischhacker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 4, 2011.
FLEISCHHACKER, Brenda (nee Parenteau) Passed away peacefully on February 2, 2011 surrounded by family and friends. Brenda was born in Prince Albert, SK on March 5, 1964. She had a love for life and managed to fit more into forty-six years than most experience in a lifetime twice as long. She was born into the Parenteau clan and was the ninth of ten children. As a child, Brenda enjoyed horseback riding, competing in rodeos and hanging out with her brothers and sisters. In 1985 Brenda moved to Saskatoon and met her soul-mate Duane. They moved to Calgary, married in 1990 and were blessed with two beautiful children, Casey and Madison. Brenda was a special mother and wife and devoted her life to her family. The strong family ties she was raised with kept her family connected with her large, extended family across the country. Brenda loved to plan gatherings and to travel to visit her family and friends, with her favorite being Galiano Island, BC. She had a passion for cooking and loved to utilize her fresh garden produce. Brenda loved music, taking family and friends to many outdoor summer music festivals. She also nurtured the musical talent in her children. In June 2006 Brenda was diagnosed with cancer. She faced the battle head on with unbelievable strength, unbreakable spirit and bravery. She was cancer free for almost four years. This was largely due to her devotion to researching and implementing effective natural healing methods. In October 2010, the cancer returned. Brenda's generous spirit and passion for living will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Brenda is survived by her loving family: husband Duane; son Casey and daughter Madison; parents Yvette and Lionel Parenteau; brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews: Melvin Parenteau, Adam (Whitney), Eli and Dane; Randy Parenteau (Carol), Amy-Jill (Bryan) and Erik (Shannon); Morris Parenteau and Jason; Joanne Shultz, Troy, Lindsay (Chris) Roka, Lowen and Jive; Jerry Parenteau (Stefan); Gordie Parenteau, Jessica and Gordie Jr.; Gary Parenteau (Bunny); Louise Parenteau (Chul); Roger Parenteau (Laura), Brooke, Erica and Landon; father-in-law Martin Fleischhacker, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews: Clara Georgson, Mary-Ann; Myrna Fleischhacker, Natasha and Ian; Larry Fleischhacker, Tyler and Dane; Leslie Fleischhacker and Alan Fleischhacker. Brenda was predeceased by her brother-in-law Gordie Shultz; mother-in-law Bernadine Fleischhacker and brother-in-law Morris Fleischhacker. Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260 - 25 Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Dennis Serfas (Director Spiritual Care, Prince Albert Parkland Health Region) and Reverend Father Maurice Fiolleau officiating. An additional Memorial Service will be held in Calgary at a future date. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Victoria Hospital Palliative Care, 6th Floor, 1200 - 24 Street West, Prince Albert, SK S6V 5T4. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca . Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to GRAY'S FUNERAL CHAPEL, Lorne Adams, Funeral Director.

My beautiful Brenda, I can't believe a year has already passed...I still miss you so much. Life has gone on, but there is an emptiness where you used to be. I realize now more than ever that you were THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO ME.
Casey and Madison have grown up so much, Brenda you would be so proud of them. I know you are still watching over us and helping take care of things...every problem that has come our way always seemed to work itself out. I have risen to the challenges of being a single parent, the same as we faced the challenges of your illness. Your strength and confidence now flows through me, I feel you and I know you are there. I know you would never completely leave us as your love for your family was far too great to be broken. I still love you too Brenda, and I always will.

I want to thank Lionel, Yvette, and all the Parenteau family that I am still so very honored and thankful to be a part of. A special thank-you to Jerry, Stef, Louise, and Joanne for all of their help and support through Brenda's illness. They all made personal sacrifices to spend time at our home, and Brenda and I couldn't have done it without them.
A special thank-you to Brenda's dear friend Uba (Debbie McGillvray) who was always there at her side, in good times and in bad, for the last 20+ years. One could only hope in their entire lifetime to have the experience of a friend like Uba.
Also thank-you to Angela Morrison and Shirley Scott, good friends you will always be.
Thank-you to everyone who attended Brenda's memorial services, to everyone who sent cards and e-mails, and to everyone who posted their condolences at this site. Keep Brenda fondly in your memory...and her spirit will live on.

I worked with Brenda few years ago. She was a great educator full of energy, love and ideas but my admiration for her skyrocketed when I saw her determination and strength fighting her illness. She made many lives a bit brighter.

I was very saddened to hear of your loss,I met Brenda many years ago when we were working at TMS.

Brenda always met me at the start of our shift with a ready smile and was always a source of laughter and positive energy.

Although, we lost contact with each other some years ago all the great memories have come flooding back and I am truly saddened for your loss she was a very special person.

My heartfelt condolences.

I was so shocked and so very sad to hear of Brenda's passing. Although I haven't seen or spoken to her in years, when I see her picture it brings back so many great memories of school days in P.A.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
