Brenda J. Johnson, 62, of Ossian, Iowa, died peacefully on Tuesday morning, December 7, 2021, at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Celebration of Life: 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 11, 2021, at the Ossian Lutheran Church, 305 Jesse Street, Ossian, Iowa, 52161, with Rev. David Lenth officiating.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at the Ossian Lutheran Church for two hours before the service.
Military Graveside Service by the Brockman-Hammersland American Legion Post #503 of Ossian.
Final Resting Place: Greenwood Centennial Cemetery, rural Ossian, Iowa.
Following the graveside service, Brenda’s celebration continues at the Wild Woods Event Center and then at Shooters, both in Ossian, until closing.
A Memorial Fund has been established for the Brockman-Hammersland American Legion Post #503 of Ossian.
Condolences may be sent to the Brenda Johnson Family, 649 Ramsey Circle, Carver, Minnesota 55315.

Brenda Jean Barnes was born November 1, 1959, to Dean and Jean (Giblin) Barnes in Cedar Rapids, IA. Brenda attended St Francis de Sales School and graduated from South Winneshiek High School, Calmar, IA in 1978. She graduated from St Luke’s Practical School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids, IA in 1979. Brenda was united in marriage with David Henry Johnson on May 5, 1979, at St Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian. She went on to further her nursing career in the United State Navy where she served as Petty Officer First Class for 8 years. She was commissioned to the United States Army where she obtained her BSN and retired as a Major after 25 years and 10 months of service. Three girls were born of this union, Nichole Lynn, Noelle Ann & Danielle Jean. Brenda and Dave lived in Ossian where Brenda has had various nursing positions throughout her career, helping nurture patients and nurses throughout. Brenda loved spending time with family, friends, her grandkids, traveling, boating, going to the ocean, singing karaoke and dancing like no one is watching. Her heart and soul were her grandchildren, Remington, Gunnar, Carter, Victoria, Maverik & McHenry. Brenda enjoyed sitting by her fireplace spending quality time with her family. Brenda touched so many people’s lives. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother & friend. Brenda cared about people and touched many people’s lives with kindness. Her actions inspired others to Dream more, Do more. She was a true leader!
Brenda is survived by her husband of 42 years: David Henry Johnson of Ossian; three daughters: Nichole (Robert) Datzman of Carver, MN, Noelle Ann Johnson of Charleston, SC & Danielle (Edward) Wadsworth of Charles City; Six Grandchildren: Remington Wadsworth, Gunnar Wadsworth, Maverik Wadsworth, McHenry Wadsworth, Carter Datzman & Victoria Datzman and a Brother: Bradley (Diane) Barnes of Florence, SC.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents Jean in 2014 and Dean in 2005 and her grandparents.
