John Hicks

John Gregory Hicks passed away January 14, 2014. He was 59. He was born in Houston, Texas on November 5, 1954 to Gene and Peggy Hicks and raised in Memphis, Tennessee where he graduated from Overton High School and attended Memphis State University. In 1983 John moved to San Jose, California where he met his future wife, Shari Swanson. They were married in Shari's hometown of Boulder on March 30, 1985. Their two children were born in California and the family moved to Boulder in 1990. While in California, John owned a painting business. After moving to Colorado he became a real estate broker. John was a movie buff who enjoyed walks with his best friend, Ellie, the dog, gardening, reading, vacationing on the beach, and spending time with his friends and family. He leaves behind his wife, Shari, his two children, Jolie and Evan, his mother-in-law, Ailie Swanson and many friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Lewis, and his father-in-law, William Swanson. John was a kind, loving man with a wonderful sense of humor that kept everyone laughing right up until the end. He will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, February 16th at the Chautauqua Community House, 900 Baseline Road, Boulder, CO.
