Mrs. Brenda Prothro

Brenda Carol Johnson Prothro, age 74, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2023. She was born on September 9, 1949, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Annis Moore Johnson and late James Murray Johnson. Brenda was raised in the close-knit community of Red Oak, Georgia, where she developed a deep sense of family, which remained a cornerstone of her life.

Brenda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, James Jere (Jerry) Prothro, and her brothers, Steven (Steve) Murray Johnson, Walter Jackson (Jackie) Johnson, and James (Jimbo) Randall Johnson. Despite the challenges she faced, Brenda's resilience and unwavering spirit inspired all who knew her.

After her marriage to Jerry, Brenda moved to Jonesboro, Georgia, where she built a loving home filled with warmth and laughter. In 2018, she relocated to Athens, Georgia, to be closer to her daughter, Lisa Allison (Prothro) Walters, son-in-law Mark Jordan Walters, and grandson Cade Jordan Walters. Brenda cherished her family above all else and found immense joy in spending time with them.

Brenda is survived by her daughter, Allison, son-in-law Mark, and grandson Cade, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. She is also survived by her sisters, Valerie Lynn Johnson Roman and Adrienne Shawn Johnson of Douglasville, Georgia and many nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own children. Brenda's love and dedication to her family were boundless, and her legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

Brenda's kindness, generosity, and infectious smile and wink endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love for her family, and her ability to find joy in life's simplest moments.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Brenda's honor.
