BRENDA WEDEWER

Brenda Joan Wedewer (nee Lang) It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful Mom, Wife, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend. She passed away with her family at her side on January 17, 2012. Mom is survived by her husband, Douglas Wedewer; three children, Charlene (Gene Unruh), children Cole and Hayley; Murray (Lisa Kirtzinger), children Preston, Avrie and Declan; Rick (Krissy Borstmayer), Laquisha, Jace and Kiera; mother-in-law, Dorothy Wedewer; and sisters, Jeannette (Don Hoffman), Arlene (Cliff Wedewer), and Sherry (Myles Kalthoff); along with numerous nieces and nephews. Brenda was predeceased by her father, Adolph Lang (1989); mother, Alice Lang (2009) and father-in-law, Fred Wedewer (2003). Brenda was born June 5, 1948 and was the second child of Alice and Adolph Lang. She was born in Humboldt SK and went to school in Middle Lake, SK and finished her grade 12 in Humboldt. Brenda followed her high school education with Business College at Robertson Career College. She worked at McLeod's Hardware Store and later Intercontinental Packers as a secretary in Saskatoon. On May 25, 1968, she married Douglas Wedewer in Middle Lake. They lived in Saskatoon until 1973 and then moved to the Potts farmstead near Cudworth where she became fully involved with the farming life and raising her children. She worked tediously during spring seeding and fall harvest alongside the men in the field. Brenda would always volunteer her time to anyone that asked. She loved to garden and be outdoors and had a fondness for flowers and fresh grown garden vegetables. She will always be remembered for her amazing chiffon cakes. Brenda loved watching curling and cooking shows. She always enjoyed her yearly fishing trips up north to Big River area and her many winter vacations. She loved her grandchildren very much and always took time to be with them even when faced with putting a big meal on the table. Her numerous hours spent with her grandchildren sliding down the snow hill in the backyard, quading around the yard giving them rides, baking cookies whenever they wanted, playing card games on demand, watching many dancing skits in the basement, and sharing stories of her own childhood. Even in her last months, she wouldn't refuse getting down on the floor to play Lego or monster trucks. She had been waiting for her last grandchild to be born and was honoured that her granddaughter now shares her name. We will always remember Mom with love and special thoughts. We will miss her forever and will always have her in our hearts. She had three sisters and many friends that came out to help her in any way possible during her almost 2 year battle with cancer. Her family would like to thank the staff at Cudworth Health Center for their kindness and support during her short stay. Donations may be sent to the Cudworth Nursing Home and Health Center in Brenda's name. The Vigil for Brenda will be held on Friday, January 20th, at 7:30 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 21st at 10:30 a.m. Both services to be held from St. Michael's Catholic Church, Cudworth, SK.
