Brenda Weinstock Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 14, 2025.
llBrenda Weinstock, 77, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, in San Jose, California. Born on December 5, 1947, in Vincennes, Indiana. Throughout her life she saw most of this country living in all the major regions. Her final stop was San Jose where she passed at home on May 20th. Brenda lived a life marked by resilience, compassion, and an unwavering curiosity about the world around her.

Brenda's professional journey was one of determination and growth. She began her career as a retail clerk and steadily advanced into management roles. Later, she transitioned into the shipping industry, where her diligence and attention to detail led her to become a respected claims adjuster. Her educational foundation-a degree in technical writing-reflected her love for language and communication.

A dedicated convert to Judaism, Brenda found deep spiritual fulfillment in her faith. One of the most meaningful moments of her religious journey was traveling to Israel-a highlight that remained close to her heart. At home she was an active member of The Sisterhood of Temple Emanu-El.

Brenda's warmth and generosity extended far beyond her immediate family. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. Her daughter's friends were always treated as part of the family. After retiring, she continued to share her compassion with others by volunteering at United Methodist Hospital in Mansfield, Texas. There, she especially cherished the opportunity to assist new mothers and their babies during their first moments together.

When she wasn't volunteering or working, Brenda immersed herself in the things she loved most: reading voraciously, capturing beauty through photography-particularly doors and painted utility boxes-and connecting with others through local activities and social media. She also had a passion for travel and delighted in exploring new places.

Brenda is lovingly remembered by her daughter Rebecca; step-children David and Sheri Weinstock; granddaughter Raissa Boura; and brothers Sam Zollars and Kevin Curry. She was preceded in death by the love of her life Stewart Weinstock; sister Deidre Jernigan; parents Laura Mae and Robert Zollars.

Her legacy lives on not only through those who knew and loved her but also through the countless lives she touched with kindness-whether through a warm smile, a thoughtful donation to causes supporting children, veterans, or the underprivileged, or simply by being present when someone needed a friend.

May Brenda's memory be a blessing and bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know her. A Memorial Service will be held on June 22, 2025, from 01:00 PM to 02:00 PM at Temple Emanu-El, 1010 University Ave, San Jose California 95126. For those unable to attend the service will be livestreamed at:

Sincere condolences to your family. I am so thankful for Brenda for her warm and heartfelt generosity, her passion for exploration, expression and connection. Brenda and Stu always welcomed me not just as Becky's friend, but almost like family. At an age when we need so much encouragement, I found them full of love, adventure and belonging. We are blessed that Brenda took the time to visit and stay in touch over the years, and blessed to have had her in our lives.

There are no words to replace the friendship and bond we had over many years. Judaism, Mah Jongg, our daughters, celebrating holidays, our Havarah. They all combined and built a wonderful unselfish and loving new family member. Brenda will always be remembered.

I am so grateful for the family information and photos Brenda shared on our Sanders family Facebook page. She held a treasure trove of information and answered many of my questions and shared all she had absorbed through the years concerning our family and the legacy that we were handed down. I remember she and DeeDee coming to our house to visit our mother and oldest brother Jimmy in the late 1960´s. I was quite young and those two young ladies left quite an impression on me. I am still in shock and find myself crying over losing her.
