Kansas City, Missouri - Brett Dee Blades died Thurs., Mar. 17, of a heart attack while working outdoors at his home in Rayville, MO.
Born Nov. 27, 1957, in Colorado Springs, to Marian Kay (Jenkins) Blades and Duane Earl Blades, Brett graduated from Westport High School, where he played tight end for the Westport Tigers.
Brett (#8001) was inducted into the Kansas City Rugby Football Club (KCRFC) Hall of Fame in 2018, after playing and coaching nearly 20 years for the KCRFC and the Dallas Harlequins. He was known as "Bingo" by his teammates.
After a career in the printing industry, Brett retired to a farm in Rayville, MO, with his loving partner, Gina.
He is survived by his mother, Marian, children Daniel, Callie and Mary, grandchildren, Gavin, Jake, Kaydence, and Rex, and siblings, Becky, Sandy, Jeff, Steve, and David.
Services will be Wed., March 23, at McGilley Chapel, 20 W. Linwood, KCMO, 64111. Visitation: 5 p.m.; service: 6 p.m.
