Brian Finnerty Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 18, 2025.

Mr. Brian Logan Finnerty, age 85, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, in Newbury, Ohio. Born on November 22, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio, Brian lived a long and meaningful life marked by unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and country.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Brian served with honor and carried that same sense of duty into every facet of his life and varied careers. His generosity, gift for storytelling, sharp wit, tireless work ethic, and steadfast loyalty left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Brian shared a devoted marriage with his late wife, Deanna Finnerty. Together, they built a strong and loving family that continues to reflect their values. He is lovingly remembered by his children: Brianna Johnson (Ray), Megan Taft (Tad), and Morgan Finnerty. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Matt Gordon (Hiba), Brian Riggione (Samantha), Logan Taft, and David Prescott (Lacy); and through his great-grandchildren: Layla, Mia, Ashlyn, and Carson.

He is also fondly remembered by his brother, Francis (Madeline); sisters-in-law, Judith Jones (husband Dean, deceased) and Larraine Moore (husband Joe, deceased); as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will continue to cherish his memory.

Brian was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Deanna; his parents, Farrell and Bertha Finnerty; his in-laws, Leonard and Wilma Bosco; his siblings: Farrell Finnerty, Alice Durst (Robert), and Kevin Finnerty (Lois); his sisters-in-law: Nancy Finnerty, and Jean Zappia (Steve); and several other dear family members whose memories he held close throughout his life.

Brian found joy in time spent with loved ones and embraced life's adventures with enthusiasm. He was an avid storyteller who never missed an opportunity to share a tale or lend a helping hand. A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also cherished bowling nights with friends, roller skating in his earlier years, riding his Harley-Davidson on long scenic routes, and perfecting his golf swing.

Grounded by love for those around him, yet full of spirit and humor, Brian leaves behind a legacy defined by strength of character and deep familial bonds. His presence will be deeply missed and warmly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Honor Flight Network (www.honorflight.org), in memory of Brian L. Finnerty.

A joint Celebration of Life will be held for Brian and Deanna at a date to be determined.

Larraine, Dena, Gayle, Katrina & Joey. I am so sorry to not only lose Deanna, but now Brian. Sometimes spouses can't live without the other, when one passes away. So, be happy they are together with the Lord our God, Amen. May they R.I.P. with God now. God Bless all of you in your time of grieving, along with the rest of the family. I love you all.
