Brian McDonald Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 13, 2025.
We lost our bright, beautiful boy Brian Austin McDonald on February 9, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. He was born November 3, 1996, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Carolyn and Christian McDonald and was joined by his brother, Sean, in 1998. The family settled in Austin, Texas, in 1999.

Brian embraced life with infectious enthusiasm. He was inquisitive and active, outgoing and caring. He played youth soccer for years and ran cross country at Bowie High School, from which he graduated in 2015. He thrived outdoors and was an Eagle Scout. He moved to Dallas in 2024.

Survivors include his parents and brother and his dogs, Chi and Luna, as well as his grandparents, Ted and Marian Goetzinger, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Lee Alexander, and paternal grandparents, Wayne and Darle McDonald.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, February 17, at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church, 5226 W. William Cannon Drive, Austin.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite pet rescue or recovery organization such as Any Lengths, Pflugerville, venmo.com/RecoveredForLife or Cardinal House, Dallas.

I met Brian in 7th grade Texas History. We bonded over our teacher´s strange pronunciation of, "who, what, when, and where," as she heavily emphasized the Hs. From that first week of school onward, Brian and I were best friends for life. Brian is the smartest and funniest person I have ever known. He lit up every room with sarcasm, wit, and a feeling of safety and security, no matter the situation. He loved everyone deeply and made sure you knew it. He was a true friend in every single sense of the word. The world will be less without him in it.

I will always remember Brian as a sweet, animal loving kindergartner. He loved Science and hatching chicks in our classroom. He loved our class cockatiel, Shelby and our classroom doves. My deepest condolences to Brian´s family and friends.
