Brian C. Moran 1989 - 2022 Westfield Brian C. Moran, 33, of Westfield died unexpectedly on Saturday December 17, 2022, in his home in Westfield, MA. Brian was born December 11, 1989, in Feeding Hills, MA, beloved son of James and Pauline (Hoare) Moran. In 1999, Brian moved to Westfield, MA and was a 2008 graduate of Westfield High School where he was an accomplished athlete, excelling at soccer, hockey, and baseball for the "Bombers". After high school, Brian attended UMass Amherst for engineering, and HCC for three semesters where he made the Dean's list. Brian's career opportunities included a position as a Media Buyer for Gladspace Media, and as an assistant beekeeper on a honey farm in Georgia. Additionally, Brian's newest passion was woodworking where he was able to create unique and personalized gifts for his family and friends. Brian was beloved for his kindness, humility, warm heart, and big hugs. He had his struggles but will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, quick wit, story-telling, and magic tricks. He was a fierce competitor and enjoyed playing sports, card games, and board games. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Boston Red Sox, Bruins, and Celtics. Most importantly, he was a loving and caring son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Brian will be forever remembered and dearly missed by his mother Pauline Moran of Westfield, MA, brother Seamus Moran and wife Taryn of Mystic, CT, sister Kaitlyn Moran of Watertown, MA, his adored nieces, Harper and Hayden Moran, and a vast number of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as family dog Maisie. Brian was predeceased by his father James M. Moran, Jr. in 2020. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Toomey O'Brien Funeral Home located at 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield, MA. A "Celebration of Life" service will be held immediately following the viewing at 11:00 AM, followed by burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Springfield, MA.

When I think of Brian, I think of his abundant smiles, laughter, energy, and playfulness.  I think of what a great brother he was. I think of how he was smushed in the middle of a "little- big" family (not without bouts of childhood conflict amongst siblings & cousins) on Cape Cod ... yet Brian always blossomed  full of love and charm!
I think of how quick Brian could learn any sport or game... how quick he could diffuse or redirect any qualms with his eagerness (ex. in anticipation of a trip, sharing a magic trick, question, joke, or  riddle, etc.)

I remember Brian being reprimanded to take a tent down in his Poppy's backyard on Cape Cod.  His face was just shy and insecure after not being heard or understood amongst the hustle and bustle in the kitchen... Brian's innocence was just so apparent in that moment.  He was wanting to help with the chores, complete a task, please his aunt, get to where they were set to go, etc. but he physically was not able to take the tent down because there was a non relative girl in it .... Brian was considerate and I admired his collectivistic ways

I think of Bri anytime "Home Alone" 1,2, or 3 is on. I remember his excitement over small things like the prospect of getting a McFlurry, snacks, and going to the Agawam Cinemas or Wellfleet Drive-In.
Brian's father praised and cheered to positively reinforce Brian excelling in sports.

I think of Brian's caring concern.  Brian was there for family when he could be- popping over to mow the lawn and check on my mother who struggled, is something he never wanted to take credit or money for..

Brian was always amazing with kids.  I recall how gentle and sensitive he was when Kaitlyn was a wee little cutie pie.  Brian would adjust and moderate his behavior to fit her needs.  6 months ago, Brian walked in his home while I was visiting and instantly got right in to rough and tumble play with my son.
Brian was so helpful and uplifting when I last saw him 6 months ago.  He gave me a ride to my grandmother's and expressed positive moments all around after not having seen each other in so long ( and it being under unfortunate circumstances).
Brian seemed to want to be able to help his friends and family if he could...
I could go on and on. This is a hard one to process. The last time I talked to Brian, I was hoping to take a field trip to the honey farm and I didn't get a reply. As always... Feeling so much should have, would have, could have..This is a hard one to process.
I'm so sorry for your loss Seamus, Kaitlyn, and Pauline.

Dearest Pauline, I am so very sorry for the loss of your child and son. A broken heart is not easily mended. I cannot imagine the devastation you are feeling. We should die before our children. Please call any time, any time at all. Grief has many ways of showing itself, may you take solace in the many beautiful memories. Seamus and Kaitlyn you two must be feeling great pain at the loss of your brother, Brian. Hold onto each other and your mom, the pain may lessen sooner. I love you all. Blessings to you all, may peace be with you.
