Brian Murphy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 5, 2024.
Brian P. Murphy, 71, of Center Barnstead, NH, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2024, after a heroic battle with cancer. He was born on November 29, 1952, in Brooklyn, NY. Brian was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, known for his great sense of humor and creativity. Brian spent most of his life on Long Island where he raised his family. After a successful career as a Systems Manager, he retired to the lake in NH.

Outside of work, Brian had a variety of hobbies that brought him joy. He was skilled in carpentry and enjoyed creating beautiful pieces for family and friends. He also had a passion for cooking and delighted in preparing meals for his loved ones. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time with his family, especially enjoying sunsets on the lake.

Brian will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Murphy, and daughters Megan Esch, Katie Colancecco, and Colleen Barton. He was a cherished father-in-law to Ryan Esch, Michael Colancecco, and Christian Barton. Brian was a loving "Pop Pop" to Addie, Kai, Brinley, Grace, and Allie. He is also survived by his siblings Patricia Murphy and Thomas Murphy.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Dorothea Murphy.

In this difficult time, the family kindly requests that instead of gifts or charitable donations, you share a memory of Brian to help them through their grief. Your memories will be a source of comfort and support.

To Cynthia and family: Sincere condolences on the death of your beloved Brian from Geraldine, Frances and Fr Jim Carini of Chester, CT. Fr Tom told me of Brian´s passing yesterday. We knew Brian when he was growing up and would often visit us in Chester and when we visited the Murphys in Rockville Center. Brian will be remembered at Sunday Mass this coming weekend and we will keep you in our prayers as you mourn his loss. May he Rest In Peace!

Brian had that winning combination of warmth, deep love for his family, intelligence and a great sense of humor.

Here is one of my favorite quotes,
"Be the things you loved most about the people who are gone."
We will always have Brian in our hearts, and we will never walk alone.

Love Always,

Carolyn and Don

There´s so much to say about Brian that it would take years to share all the fun and laughter that he brought to our lives. From trips together and dinners or just hanging out at each other´s homes it was always fun and filled with love.
Brian´s greatest love were for Cynthia and his three fantastic daughters who all became family and friends over these many years. We miss our dearest friend greatly already but will go on ,thankful for everything he shared with us.
RIP my dear brother and friend.

Dear Cyndy and family. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I loved Brian as a friend and brother. Working at Barnes and Noble we would sit and talk about the world problems (and of course we felt we solved them) and most of all we would talk of family. Brian so loved you Cyndy and often laughed saying how did you ever put up with all the stuff he did. His girls he loved and was so proud of them. I had the pleasure of meeting a couple of the girls when Brian would bring them to work. Cyndy you and your family have become a part of my family because of Brian. Love you All!!

I will never forget your allowing me into your family. The countless projects you completed for us while begrudgingly explaining to me what you were doing, only to have it go way above my head.

We saw 100% eye to eye on 2 things; our love for an outstanding oversized bowl of chocolate ice cream, and an unwavering extreme love for your daughter. And that was more than enough.

I appreciate how much you endured over this past year always with a smile
and a word of reassurance that you were ok.

Enjoy your eternal sunsets Pop Pop, we love you!
