Brian O'Donnell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 20, 2025.
Brian David O'Donnell, 70, of Wolfeboro, NH, passed away on May 17, 2025, in Tampa, Florida.

Brian is survived by his loving wife, Peggy O'Donnell (Bishop); his children, Holly McNamara and her husband, Jonathan, Kelly O'Donnell, Jared O'Donnell and his partner Mitzi Mendiola; and his cherished grandchildren, Emma McNamara and Katie, Keagan, and Colby Szklarz. He is also survived by his mother, Mildred O'Donnell (Jacques) of Largo, FL; his brother, William O'Donnell; sisters-in-law, Lisa Bishop and Joanne O'Donnell; and his nieces and nephews: William, Charles, Patrick, Beth, Brittany, and Shanelle O'Donnell, Amber Lorden, and Nolan and Ally Bishop.

He was predeceased by his father, Thomas C. O'Donnell; his brother, Bruce O'Donnell; his niece, Brooke O'Donnell; and the beloved family dog, Troy.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, on April 19, 1955, Brian was the son of Thomas and Mildred O'Donnell. He graduated from Dracut High School in 1973 and earned his degree from Thomas Edison University in 1979. He obtained his pilot's license and flew for Eastern Airlines before venturing into business as a gas station and convenient store owner.

Brian and Peggy raised their family on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee-a place close to Brian's heart since childhood.

Brian was the life of every party. His infectious sense of humor, booming laugh, and quick wit made everyone feel at ease. He was always the first to crack a joke and had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel seen and valued. He loved others unconditionally and without question. Brian never hesitated to help others, always looked on the bright side, and had a remarkable gift for seeing the best in everyone and every circumstance.

Brian's life will be celebrated publicly on Sunday, June 8th, at 2 p.m., at the Brewster Academy Boathouse in Wolfeboro, NH.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Brian's memory to his daughter's pediatric cancer charity, Designing Dreams USA at www.designingdreamsusa.org

Dear Peggy, Jared, and Family,

We were deeply saddened to hear of Brian´s passing. You all are in our thoughts and prayers as you journey through the grief. May you feel strength and inner peace as you reflect on the beautiful memories and wonderful years you enjoyed as a family. We will always remember sharing the love of Lake Winnipesaukee and soccer. Paul will never forget the times that they met in the aisles of Market Basket, shopping lists in hand, comparing notes.

With love,

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember your dad being a very happy soul, that took care of his family and his children´s friends. When I picture him in my mind, he´s laughing about something. I am grateful for the time Mr. O´Donnell spent creating an amazing life for his family, directly benefiting close friends of the family. Wishing you peace in this time of profound sadness. <3

Dan and I were blessed to know Brian, even for a very short time here at the beach house. We enjoyed our nightly hot tub conversations and loved Brian`s quick wit and sense of humor. Our kids, Danny, Amanda, Jeff and Michele were also touched by his kindness and smile. We miss you very much, Brian!

I enjoyed being in his company. He had a handle on things. He was inquisitive. Even in senior years, I learned a few things about dealings with people by watching him in action. I´m glad I knew him. Jim Bastis.

What I admired most about Brian was the way he loved his grandkids. What I will always most appreciate about Brian is how kind he was to my son every time we were with your family.
