Brian K. Pemberton, 54, of Belle Rive, passed away at 7:40 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2010, at his home in Belle Rive.He was born in Mt. Vernon on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 1955, a son of Frederick and Constance (Edelman) Pemberton. He married Ruth E. Karlovsky in Mt. Vernon on May 28, 1996, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 13, 2008.In honor of his wishes, a celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at American Legion Post 141 in Mt. Vernon. There will be no visitation.Brian is survived by a sister, Melissa Pemberton and friend Cathy Provines of Mt. Vernon; four brothers, Greg Pemberton and wife Mary Jo of Mt. Vernon, Steve Pemberton and wife Debbie of Belleville, Bruce Pemberton of Grand Island, Neb., and Christopher Pemberton and wife Bethany of Mt. Vernon; an aunt, Betty Wechsler of Mt. Vernon; and seven nieces and nephews, Julia Underwood and husband Nate of Calhoun, Ky., Valerie Pemberton of Belleville, Samantha McFarland and husband Mike of Belleville, Stephen Pemberton, Jr. of Belleville, Jonathon Pemberton of Belleville, Crystal Pemberton of Colorado and Zach Pemberton of Mt. Vernon.His parents and his wife preceded him in death.Brian worked for the Mt. Vernon Water Department for 15 years before retiring, was a volunteer member of the Belle Rive Fire District and dearly loved all his friends, especially his co-workers at the city water department.For those who wish, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home, or from the online obituary at www.hugheyfuneralhome1969.com, or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O.
