Brian Soar Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 5, 2024.
Brian Sydney Soar, 69, passed away on August 3, 2024, in Chetek, Wisconsin. Born on August 2, 1955, in Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada, he was a longtime resident of Superior, Wisconsin.

Brian dedicated six years of his life to the U.S. Navy from 1974 to 1980, serving with distinction and pride. After his military service, he embarked on a successful career at Superior Water, Light & Power, where he worked for 31 years until his retirement.

A graduate of Superior Senior High School, Brian was known for his sense of humor, sarcasm, and an infectious laugh that could light up any room. He was a devoted family man, cherished by his wife of 49 years, Kathy, and a loving father to Tami Lucas (Josh Lucas), Brianna Olson (Travis Turner), Tommy Soar (Heidi Soar), and Joe Olson. He also held a special place in his heart for his six grandchildren: Kyleigh-Anne and Madelyn Lucas, Sydney and Sadie Olson, and Olivia & Oliver Soar.

Brian's brother, Derek Soar, and sister, Beth Schoen, survive him, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gail Soar-Knudson and Dennis Soar; step-father, LeRoy Knudson; brother, David Soar; and sister-in-law, Jayne Soar.

An avid camper, Brian enjoyed spending summers at his home in Chetek, WI, surrounded by family and friends. His last days were joyously spent celebrating his 69th birthday with loved ones.

A celebration of Brian's life will be held at Boarders Bar & Grill in Superior, WI, on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 5 pm. His legacy of laughter, love, and dedication to family will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.

Laughter is when Brian and Kathy bought a waterbed when they came out and he showed us how it rocked back and forth. Brian was a great Brother-in-Law. Brian also tilled a garden for me. Brian will be missed even though I haven't seen him for a long time. I still remember his smile and laughter. My Sympathy to Kathy and family. Prayers for all Debbie
