Bridget Leddy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 22, 2024.
Bridget M. (Robinson) Leddy, age 54, of Collegeville, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 15, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Bridget was born on February 23, 1970 in Abington, PA to the late Wilbur Robinson and June M. (McCook) Robinson. She was a graduate of Methacton High School, Worcester Twp., PA.

Bridget's life will seem too short to many, but those who were fortunate to know her understand that her existence and the imprint she left on our hearts far exceeded her quantity of years. Bridget was blessed with a remarkable fifteen extra years of life after receiving a double lung transplant on November 15, 2009 by the incredible University of Penn Lung Transplant team. She made the most of this precious gift by approaching each day with a grateful heart, smile and adventurous spirit.

From the beginning, Bridget found joy in simple everyday moments, such as nature walks where she reveled in the tranquility of the wildlife and changing seasons; a sunset; beach trips with family; and sunflowers blooming. She had a passion for photography and with her camera as a constant companion she photographed everything from flowers and birds to family celebrations and days at the park with the grandkids. Official family photographer was like a job to her and she took pride in capturing all of our special moments.

Bridget's gift for noticing and celebrating others extended beyond her family. After her lung transplant, Bridget was drawn to support people in a similar situation. She became very active in the Penn Lung Transplant Support Group, ultimately administering the group. She was the first to acknowledge birthdays and the often emotional transplant anniversaries. She got to know members on a personal level, sharing moments from her journey and listening to theirs. Her story and her compassion offered many hope and comfort.

Above all, Bridget was a dedicated daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister. Her love for her family was unparalleled and evident in how she made each person feel seen, welcomed, and cherished. Whether it was being a shoulder to lean on, cooking someone's favorite meal, sharing her famous raspberry thumbprint cookies or a spontaneous trip to the beach, you could always count on her to be there. She was the family cheerleader and an enduring source of unconditional love and support.

Bridget is survived by her children, Vanessa Guzik (Michael), Valerie Oliva (Daniel) and Derek Leddy; her grandchildren, Hailey Guzik, Michael Guzik, Landon Smith, Rylan Leddy, Daniel Oliva Jr., and Briella Oliva; her siblings, John Robinson (Carol), Mary Pat Rohe (David), Tom Robinson (Dianne), Marie Burns, Joyce Legge (Robert), June Robinson, Ellen Wilson (Mark), James Robinson (Charlene); and many nieces and nephews, aunts, cousins, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Eileen Robinson, brother-in-law, Joseph Burns and nephew, Connor Robinson.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 6, 2024 from 10:00 am to 10:45 am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Eleanor's Church, 647 Locust Street, Collegeville, PA. A private burial will be held for family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bridget's name to Gift of Life Donor Program, 401 North 3rd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123 or at www.donors1.org/give. A cause very close to her heart.

I will never forget Bridget. She welcomed me into the Penn Lung Transplant support group and helped me understand what had just started for me. Ultimately she became an important part of my journey not only as a support group member, but a friend for life! She made a point to come see me one last time before I moved to California in 2015. I loved her and will miss our online chats.

I'll never forget the love and friendship that I received from Bridget. She was one of the first Alphas that I had met online and she helped me and many, Alpha Sisters. I wish we could have met in person but am glad to have the online support that she gave. I will miss her!

Her smile and how positive she was. The way she was with her grandchildren always saying something bright and happy. The BBQ we had and birthday parties so nice and cheerful I will miss her
