Brigidine Sister Margaret Fingleton – Windsor. Tuesday 24 May, 2016 Sister Margaret Fingleton, aged 77, former Headmistress of Brigidine Junior School Windsor 1978 – 2003, died peacefully on Tuesday, 24th May at Wexham Park Hospital in the love and care of family and Brigidine sisters. She suffered with Alzheimer's disease. Born in 1938 at Grange, Co Laois, she was the sixth and youngest child of Daniel and Mary Ann Fingleton. She went to primary school in Ratheniska and boarded at the Brigidine Convent, Mountrath to complete her secondary education. She entered the Brigidine Order in 1960. Following her initial training at the Brigidine Novitiate, Tullow, Margaret was assigned to the Windsor community, travelling by boat and train from Ireland in 1962. She graduated at LSU teacher training college, Southampton. She began her teaching career at Holywell School with the Sisters of St Paul, and lived at Brigidine Convent Denbigh, North Wales. When Margaret retired from Brigidine Junior School in 2003, she embarked on a 'second career' of voluntary work at St Edward's parish Windsor and at the Royal Borough, Thames Hospice two days a week, Meals-on-Wheels one day a week. She visited Foxleigh Grove Nursing Home each week, taking Holy Communion to residents. Reposing at Sargeant's Funeral Home, 61 St Leonard's Road, Windsor on Monday 6th June and Tuesday 7th June, from 3-6pm. She will be sadly missed by her family, Brigidine sisters, past pupils, teachers, parents and friends. Funeral Mass at St Edward's RC Church, Alma Road, Wednesday 8th June, 12.30. Margaret will be laid to rest at the Convent Cemetery, Mountrath, Ireland. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Margaret to any of the following: Age Concern, Spencer Denny Centre, Park Corner, Windsor. SL4 4EB. Alzheimers Dementia Support for donations in memory of Margaret. Donations that are made by cheque should be made payable to Alzheimers Dementia Support and donations can be sent to: Unit 113, 5 High Street, Maidenhead, SL6 1JN. Thames Hospice, Pine Lodge, Hatch Lane, Windsor. SL4 3RW.
