I just want to thank everyone for their special comments about Miss Brittany, Marie Hammond. As her mother, I know how truly special she was, and will always be. They broke the mold when they made her she was.ONE. Of a kind, she brought joy to everyone she met from day, one that her older brother, won the citizenship award of his school, and the following year Sue Stalnaker called me and asked me what she put on the trophy. Well, guess who won that year Brittany Marie Hammond. Donnie was on the road a lot lot but I wanted my children to have a stable home so I did not travel much. I stayed home and taught them right from wrong and it´s what´s in your heart not your pocket that counts. And Brittany possessed all those qualities. Thank you to all once again for your kind words about Miss Britt, smarty pants, and gentle heart.XO

I just want to take a moment to thank everyone for loving Brittany so very much. They broke the mold when they made her , she was one of a kind, and I´m so grateful that SHE was mine. I never thought twice about sharing her and her beautiful heart and amazing mind with the world. Her brother , Matt won the citizenship award of his school and the following year Sue Stalnaker called me to ask me what she put on the trophy because that year Brittany won it.... Donnie was on the road a lot lot but I wanted my children to have a stable life so I stayed home and taught them everything that they needed to know to succeed in life. And they both did a JAM UP job. Thank you to all that has commented on Brittany, Marie, Hammond and the power that she possessed inside her heart and mind.XXOOXXOOXXOO

I met Brittany during out time at UNCW together, working on our Master's. She quickly became one of my best friends, not only in the department, but in life. We remained best friends after our time in Wilmington and contacted each other often. Brittany was one of the few people that I call when I need advice or was feeling down, because I knew I could count on her love, compassion, and wisdom. As I have said to others, Brittany was one of those few friends that you meet in life, where you know the friendship will last forever. I have several favorite memories- ranging from driving from Bloomington, IN to Wilmington, NC at the spur of the moment one night when we weren't scheduled to leave till the next morning, to her joyfully doing my taxes at one of our favorite restaurants, to staying in a sketchy AirBnB in Cincinnati to attend a sociology conference. The hole in my heart will take time to heal, but those memories and the joy she brought into my life will forever light and guide my path.

My memories of Brittany are confined to a small piece of earth known as a pickleball court. She was a shield maiden player and was awesome against the best, but I often watched her play against weaker opponents and never take advantage of them. It’s no surprise to read that she had so many fine qualities and that so many will miss her. My heart goes out to her family and friends in this time of grief.

I just received news of Brittney´s abrupt passing. My deepest condolences to the Hammond family, I´m very sorry about your enormous loss. I have played pickleball at SouthEast Clarke Park (SEC) many times over the last few years, with Brittney being one of the regular players. Brittney always played pickleball with such enthusiasm and tremendous skill. She was very friendly and a great competitor. The Athens Pickleball Community will miss her wonderful smile, playful spirit, and wonderful personality. I will keep the Hammond family in my prayers.

I wanted to give my heartfelt condolences for your loss of Brittany. My sister Heather had been friends with Brittany for many years and would bring up her name often when we talked. Heather said she thought of her as a little sister (even though I´M her little sister - lol )
I had never met Brittany- but we had texted a few times over the years when she would be concerned about my sister - and wanted to check in on her. It was nice to know they had each other in their lives to lean on for support. I know my sisters recent passing was hard on Brittany - and can only hope they are together again - no longer struggling and finally at peace.
I also wanted to thank Brittany´s family for attending Heathers memorial - it meant more than I think you know.
With my deepest Sympathy
Marlo

B-ham. Hambone. You were my childhood. My best friend for so many years. Remember when I first moved to Florida your dad would greet us as the new kids even after years we couldn´t shake that nickname. You and Katie calling us aliens. The amount of times we had sprite coming out of ours noses from laughing so hard. When you heard I was moving you brought super glue to my house and said let´s glue ourselves together so they can´t tear us apart.
You always had that "it" factor. People were just drawn to you. You were always SO fun and on the go. I looked up to you in sooo many ways. I promise to remember you as just that. I´m sorry you couldn´t stick around longer but it´s our loss. I´ll see you on the other side. I love you.
