Brooke Deckard Obituary

Published by Clovis News Journal from Sep. 30 to Oct. 3, 2014.
Brooke "Brookie" Danielle Deckard, 20, left this world for the next on September 26, 2014, in Sulfur, OK.
She was born September 16, 1994, in Plano, Texas to Charles Edward Deckard, Jr and Jennifer Lea (Jones) Deckard.
She was a 2013 Distinguished Honor graduate of Blue Ridge High School. During her high school career she played volleyball for four years, basketball for three years, and tennis for two years, but her greatest love was softball. Brooke pitched and played first base for the Blue Ridge Lady Tigers for four years. Her honors include Setter of the Year for Volleyball, All Texomaland for three years, Offensive Player of the Year for three years, and MVP for Softball. She was attending North Central Texas College in Gainesville, Texas on a softball scholarship and studying Business. Starting her sophomore year as a NCTC Lady Lion, she was looking forward to transferring next year to continue her softball career. Brooke was a unique soul; she had a light that shone from her eyes and through her smile that touched everyone she met. She was a momma hen and found joy in looking out for her family and friends. She enjoyed life, for her there was no half way; she lived every moment at 110%. She loved her family, friends, and she had a passion for softball. She was a natural leader, and really truly cared about others. Selfless, giving her time to others old and young, whether it was helping coach, motivate, or helping others with school work, Brooke was a rock for those who knew and loved her. She loved helping her Dad with projects on the weekends, and was the best sister and daughter a family could ask for.
She is survived by her parents Charles Deckard, Jr. and mother Jennifer (Jones) Deckard of Blue Ridge; brother; Charles Deckard III of the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, AK; sisters; Amber and Dakota Deckard of Blue Ridge; paternal grandparents Charles, Sr. and Barbara Deckard of Blue Ridge, TX; maternal grandparents Augustus and Susan Jones of Clovis NM; aunts and uncles Emilio and Christie Basaldua of Allen, TX, and Gus and Tina Jones of Cary, NC; and cousin Leo Jones also of Cary, NC. She has numerous cousins and extended family in the Texas/New Mexico area.
The family will receive friends 7:00 PM Friday, October 3, 2014, and services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, October 4, 2014 both at First Baptist Church Blue Ridge, TX.
Services will be officiated by Brother Shawn Bailey of First Baptist Church Blue Ridge, Don McKinney, and Angela Doan. Serving as pall bearers will be Coaches Cody Carlisle, Bret Cranford, Greg Morrison, Kevin Wiggins, JD Williams, and close friend, Tye McKinney.
Interment will follow at the Blue Ridge Cemetery. Condolences can be made at Hurstfielderbaker.com

Charles and Jenn I am sorry for your loss. My sister-in-law played volleyball at NCTC about 18 yrs ago so when the accident made the news it was kinda close to home. After hearing that your daughter was on the bus, it hits much closer. Please know that my family and I will be praying for you and yours during this difficult time. So sad for y'all! God bless you!
