Brookley Jan Cross

Brookley "Brook" Jan Cross passed away on April 21, 2025, at the age of 74, with his brother Larry and niece Chelsea by his side. A Stanford alumnus, lifelong learner, and deeply social soul, Brook lived a life full of conversation, curiosity, and connection.

Born on August 1, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, Brook was a man of eclectic interests. He was especially passionate about music-he loved the Rolling Stones and Neil Young-and was well-read in subjects ranging from anthropology and sociology to history and literature. A voracious reader with a sharp intellect, he could talk to anyone and often did, forming lasting friendships in every corner of his life.

Brook enjoyed a 30+ year career in business consulting, working with companies such as Performex, American Honda, and Litton Industry. His talent for communication and genuine interest in people made him a natural in his field. He was a gifted speaker-witty, thoughtful, and warm-and he proudly officiated the wedding of his niece Chelsea, a moment that meant a great deal to both of them.

He is survived by his brothers Bradley and Larry Cross, and his nieces Chelsea Cross Wilson and Paulina Cross Griffis. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Hess Cross, and his father, Myrle Vivian Cross, Jr.

A private service will be held for immediate family.

Brook will be remembered for his depth, charm, and the unmistakable warmth he brought into every room. He will be deeply missed.
