Brown Gardner

Brown was a dear friend and committed member of First Presbyterian Church in Durham, NC where I served as pastor. My wife, Carlisle, and I enjoyed our friendship with Brown and Jane who were lots of fun! What wonderful, feisty daughters! Remarkable Family!!
May Brown rest in peace and rise in Glory! Much love to his family!

Heartfelt prayers and my deepest condolences to you all. Mr. Gardner was the epitome of a Southern Christian gentleman. I have never met a kinder, sweeter man. The innumerable holidays that my family and I spent with Mr. and Mrs. Gardner were something that I looked forward to each year. I am thankful that I was fortunate enough to be with Mr. and Ms. Gardner the last time they were at David and Elizabeth's for the holidays.

May the memories of all the good times bring you peace and comfort.

I have never met a finer gentleman than Mr Gardner. We talked for hours at David's & Elizabeth's home over the years, especially at Thanksgiving & Christmas; & to this day I remember so much of what he shared with me. A Christian man of that intelligence who was so willing to share his wisdom & expertise with his beloved family, & their families in turn...a generational blessing. What a husband, father, & grandfather he was. Mr Brown will be forever missed. My deepest condolences.

I am so terribly sorry about your Dad. It was purely a Joy and Blessing to have been able to get to know him and spend countless numbers of Holidays with him and your Mom. He was such a sweet and kind man, and I know he will be sorely missed. As I expressed to Elizabeth, I hope you will all find comfort in the fact that he is now pain free, and is with Mom where they can continue their Heavenly love with each other.

I´m so sad to hear of Browns passing but I know Jane was so happy to see him again. I have such wonderful childhood memories of Brown. Kickball in the backyard on Highland was always more fun when Brown joined in. He taught me all about coins and little painted soldiers and the game of Risk. Love and hugs to Christy & Liz - y´all had one of the best dads!

What a special longtime friend and such a devoted husband to Jane. One special memory is of our group going to Virginia and the guys deciding to ride the Virginia creeper trail. My husband who had Alzheimer's was not able to ride by himself, so Brown got a tandem bike and he rode with Bob all the way down the mountain. What a special treat for my husband and a special memory. I will miss him.
