Brownlee Fiveash
NORTHPORT | Brownlee Fiveash, age 84, of Northport, Ala., passed away on October 1, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Lovett officiating and Memory Chapel, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Burial will follow service in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2014 at Calvary Baptist church.
Brownlee was preceded in death by his parents, William Homer and Mary Elizabeth Ward Fiveash; and his sisters, Homer Leigh ""Dent"" Moorer and Ossie Mae Putnam.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jacquelyn ""Jackie"" Fiveash; his daughter, Teryy Lee Fiveash of Coker, Ala.; his son William Brownlee Fiveash of McCalla, Ala.; daughter-in-law, Christell Fiveash; his sister, Von Hancock of Almeria Community; his grandchildren Elizabeth Fiveash Garnto (Brad) of Nashville, TN, Sarah Armistead Fiveash of Birmingham, Ala., and Jose DiGiorgio of McCalla, Ala.
Brownlee served in the 11th Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Auburn University where he met Jackie, his wife of 60 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He retired from Alabama Gas Co. and was a member of the District Boy Scout Board. He volunteered for United Way and was a member of the Exchange Club. He was a longtime member of Home Builders Association of Tuscaloosa where he was director of member services. He also worked with YMCA on the membership drives.
Brownlee enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, reading and traveling. He also enjoyed boat rides on the lake and having summertime cookouts.
Pallbearers will be, Cal Chambers, Frank Moorer, Art Hancock, Rich Richeson, Louis Montgomery, Ben Schrubbe M.D, and James Jordan M.D.
Honorary Pallbearers are Bob Spivey, David Humphries, Billy Duke, and Keyston Men's Club.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church or Hospice of West Alabama.
