Bruce LeRoy Boelter

Mr. Boelter was born Oct. 19, 1931, in Walnut Grove, Neb., to Carl and Ione Boelter.

He married Ada Harms on Feb. 16, 1958.

Mr. Boelter was a millwright and installed generators in many power plants, two of which are on the Gunnison River. He worked on the giant fans in the Eisenhower Tunnels, the first baggage system at DIA, the generators on the Columbia River and was offered a job in 1990 to build scrubbers on a fossil fuel power plant in Taiwan. He spent 1 1/2 years there and then retired. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors and spending time at the family cabin at Steamboat Lake.

He is survived by his wife, Ada Boelter of Delta; a sister and her husband, Bonnie Springle of Beaver Dam, Wis.; three daughters, Lorinda Townsend and her husband Ray of Longmont, Jeannie Miller and her husband Roy, and Becky Layton, all of Apple Valley, Calif.; three sons, Craig Boelter and Debbie Klug, Todd Boelter and Michelle, all of Delta, and Bruce Layton and his wife Krista of Big Bear, Calif.; four granddaughters, Stella Zebic and her husband Goran of Orlando, Fla., Kristal Goodwin and her husband Carl and their family, Jamie Hammett and her husband Jacob and their family, all of Palatka, Fla., and Brittany Davis and her husband Danny of Grand Junction; and five grandsons, Toby Kaylor of Firestone, Steven Boelter of Palatka, Fla., Mark Layton and his wife Valerie and their family of Lucerne Valley, Tim Layton and his wife Beth of Snowflake, Ariz., and Cory Layton and his family of Apple Valley, Calif.

Mr. Boelter was preceded in death by a sister, Marceline Kruse; and a granddaughter, Tiffany Boelter.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 23, at 2 p.m. at All Saints Lutheran Church in Austin. A light dinner for family and close friends will be held at the Boelter home at 6 p.m.
