Bruce Douglas Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 13, 2025.
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Fr. Bruce G. Douglas, 71, of Vernon, on March 9, 2025, after an extended illness. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Shea) Douglas.

Born on August 24, 1953, in Hartford, he was the son of the late John and Jeannette (Beaulieu) Douglas.

Bruce grew up in West Hartford. He joined the Army in 1972 for a 2 year enlistment and was stationed in Germany. After returning to the States, he traveled the country for a year and a half, and ultimately moved to Hartford, where he began his career as a locksmith and painter. He also worked corporate security and ultimately became an Independent Old Catholic Priest.

In addition to his wife Kathy, he is survived by his son, Matthew; his brother, Scott in Fryeburg, ME; his grandson, Caden Hatten in Manchester; his in-laws, Karen, Paul, Jessica and Sarah Yahne of Enfield. He also leaves behind his life-long friends, Bob LaChapelle, and Joe O'Brien.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his stepdaughter, Danielle Hatten.

A very special thank you to Bruce's Masonicare Hospice team (Ginny, Jessica, and Kate). I am forever grateful for your friendship and support.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 15th at 11:00 am at Calvary Church, 1855 Albany Avenue, West Hartford, CT 06117. The burial will be held at a later date private to the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bruce's memory may be made to Masonicare Home Health & Hospice (masonicare.org).
