I wrestled for Hartz and took American Life. I have also been lucky enough to be a friend of the Hartman family since I was a teenager. In American Life, some friends and I did a presentation about frontier living. We brought in some antique rifles and skinned a rabbit in front of the class. Hartz wrote: "good job with the rabbit - they can be tough to skin if they have been frozen". So much for our shock value! I fell asleep during a trial that was part of an A. L. field trip. Hartz heard about it and grilled me mercilessly in front of the class the next day. Few things pleased him more than publicly tormenting his wrestlers. The more Hartz grilled you, the more you knew he liked you. Best coach and teacher I ever had. Thanks BruceI

Hello my name is Bradley Gulick. I didnt personally know Mr. Hartman but he sure sounds like he had an amazing life. Odd story I had some time ago purchased a lot of vintage lobby cards at an estate auction. I remember the name harman had been written on one of the photos. It is of a young child and fits the time line. I do believe this could be a baby photo of Mr Hartman. If this indeed is. I would love to return it to the Family. You can reach me by email. Very sorry to hear of Mr Hartman´s passing. American Life was my all time favorite class while at Kellogg. He was a great teacher and an even better person for how he treated his students...with kindness, patience and respect. Prayers to his family for healing.

Coach Hartman was very important in my life. He gave simple and clear direction, both in the classroom and wrestling room. He made it fun to learn and compete. The
lessons I learned from him are with me still today and part of him will always be with me. To his children know that you Father was a good man and loved by many.

Such an inspirational teacher, and now I learn he was a professional football player too? Amazing. Praying for peace for all who loved him.

I team-taught American Life at Kellogg with Bruce for many years. I am so very sad to hear the news. I couldn't have asked for a better teaching partner. He was kind, easy-going, knowledgeable, and had the best sense of humor. We really felt like a team and I'll never forget those years......some of the happiest of my teaching career.

I loved history because of Mr Hartman. He made every student feel important and he was the most kind hearted man. We are all better because of him. Wishing the whole family peace as they walk this new chapter. May your memories be sweet.

I remember a presentation made in American Life that had a "Mission Impossible" theme where two students videoed themselves filling the inside of Bruce´s Mustang with popped popcorn - all the way to the roof! He sat in the back of the room laughing so hard! He had the best sense of humor! RIP

I was just thinking about "Hartz" as we called him, and American Life class. He was a great teacher and a fun role model. I´ll always remember that smile!

I am so sorry to fear of Mr. Hartman´s passing. He was one of my most favorite teachers while at Kellogg HS. We called him Harty! My best friend and I helped with his bulletin boards and he was always such a jokester. I am 65 years old now and his name still brings a smile to my face.
I pray he rests in great peace, and know his amazing kind and fun loving spirit is shining brightly in the heavens.
Much love to all his family
