Bruce Ikert Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 19, 2025.
Bruce Gerald Ikert, 86, of Maineville, OH passed peacefully on August 7th, 2025. Born in Elgin, IL in 1939, his family moved to Cincinnati in the 1940s. He was a proud graduate of the Woodward High School class of 1957 and went straight to work at Cincinnati Bell, where he spent his entire career until retirement. As a veteran of the Ohio Air National Guard, he was a lifelong supporter of veterans' charities and the U.S. military. In his free time, he enjoyed sharing meals with friends and family, watching the wildlife in his backyard, tinkering with projects in his garage, and spoiling his friend Lisa's dogs, Dahlia and Lily. He was an unwavering fan of both the Bengals and the Reds, you could always find him watching or listening to coverage on game day. He also loved to travel, with one of his favorite trips being to Alaska with his son, Brian. He was a devoted and caring father, grandfather, brother, coworker, neighbor, and friend. He will be forever loved and remembered for his quick wit, eye for detail, and warm hugs.

He was preceded in death by his parents (Loretta Jungnickle and Robert Ikert), siblings (Roger Ikert, Leah Marshall, and Karen Sullivan), and children (Michael Lay and Kimberly Benson). He is survived by siblings (Kathy, Terry, and Phillip Knoche), sons (Brian Ikert and Jeffery Lay), granddaughters (Allison and Hannah Neese, Reagan Lay, Eliza and Delaney Rodmon), and several dear friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Valley Vineyards (2276 US-22, Morrow, OH 45152) on Sunday, September 14th from 2-5pm.
