Bruce D. Johnson

Bruce D. Johnson, 80, of Venice, FL, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025. Born on June 15, 1945, in Rockford, IL, Bruce was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful Christian, and a gentle, steady presence in the lives of all who knew him.

A graduate of Rockford East High School, Class of 1963, Bruce dedicated his life to providing for his family. He worked hard, led with quiet strength, and never missed a chance to offer a corny joke or a warm smile. He was married to the love of his life, Sally J. Johnson, for 55 wonderful years until her passing in 2020. Their love was a constant and beautiful example to all who knew them.

Bruce had a deep love for music and could often be found playing the organ or singing in church choirs. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he was a devoted member of Capri Christian Church in Naples, FL.

He found joy in life's simple pleasures-a vanilla wafer, a lifesaver candy, a bowl of ice cream-and most of all, time with his family. Bruce was the dependable grandpa who could always be counted on for a lawnmower ride, a high five after a big game, or a hug when words weren't enough. He never spoke a negative word about anyone and lived each day with kindness and grace.

Bruce is survived by his children: Tad (Ann) Johnson, Tanya (Eric) Pearson, and Tiffany (Joe) Brendum; his grandchildren: Brittany (Steve) Robbins, Bailey Johnson, Brooke Johnson, Krista Pearson, Jacob Brendum, and Nicholas Pearson; and his great-grandchildren: George Robbins and Baby Girl Robbins, expected later this year; and his brother Jerome Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sally, daughter-in-law Mary Johnson, his parents Paul and Bernice Johnson, and his sister Pauline Anderson.
