Bruce H. Laird

Bruce H. Laird, 74, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital, in Erie. Bruce was born Dec. 26, 1946, in Pittsburgh, a son to James M. and Mildred Haley Laird. Bruce graduated from North Hills High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy, where he spent four years active duty on the USS E.A. Greene and two years in reserves. Bruce had many jobs over the years. He was a field engineer for Miller Printing, a draftsman for Dravo Corporation but he was well-known for his tree business. Bruce had the uncanny ability to live a carefree life. He managed somehow to be in the right place at the right time, and enjoyed his fair share of lucky breaks! His friendly, outgoing, boisterous personality always made his presence known in every situation. Bruce was an advocate for his beliefs and if you had an ear, he took his time to share his thoughts whether you liked it or not. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent most of his time fishing, crafting lures and riding his Harley. Bruce loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James E. Laird. Bruce is survived by the love of his life, Linda Barr; his son, James Laird (Lori), of Gibsonia; his daughter, Julie Ference (Steven); and grandchildren, Kayla and Madelyn Laird and Jacob and Olivia Ference. In his honor, please take a loved one fishing. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
