COOPERSVILLE, Mich. - Bruce David Reffeor, 68, of Coopersville and formerly of Montague passed away on Saturday, Oct 3, 2009. Bruce was born and raised in Sunbury, Pa., a son of the late Bruce and Clara Reffeor. In 1961, he married his high school sweetheart, Charlotte, who survives. In 1966, Bruce and his wife moved to Montague, Mich., where they lived for 27 years.
Bruce taught math and science at Oakridge Junior High School. After seven years, he left teaching to work full time as co-owner and eventually owner of Reffeor and Brown Construction. He built many homes in the Montague, Shelby, and the Whitehall area. Bruce sold his construction business in 1986 and took a job at Muskegon Community College as lead carpenter where he worked until his retirement in 2003.
Bruce was an avid ham radio operator and member of the Muskegon Amateur Radio Council, and Michigan Amateur Radio Alliance in Grand Rapids.
He enjoyed jumping out of perfectly good airplanes (skydiving), enjoyed gourmet cooking, traveling and practical jokes.
In addition to his wife, Charlotte, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Patrick Kehoe, of Lowell, and Wendy and John Klein of Ravenna; four grandchildren, Stephanie and Annette Kehoe, and Katelyn and Ryan Klein; one brother and sister-in-law, Terence and Ruth Reffeor, of Bloomsburg, Pa.; one sister-in-law, Marie and Rodger Ludwig, of Winfield, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Reffeor.
Cremation has taken place. The family will greet relatives and friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St., Coopersville, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday followed by a memorial service at 11 at Coopersville United Methodist Church, 105 68th Ave., Coopersville., with the Rev. John Morse officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bruce's memory to the DeVos Children's Hospital, Grand Rapids, MI.

Dear Char,Cindy and Wendy, We were saddened to see Bruce's obituary in the paper this p.m. What a shock!! Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Jim and I were sharing all the good memories we have of your great family when you were our neighbors on Pinebrook Dr. in Montague. With deepest sympathy, Rita & Jim Kenny

I was Skip and your next door neighbor through alot of my childhood. I remember your folks building a home in Northumberland. I knew that Michael had passed away, a car accident if I remember correctly. My the Lord bless you and sustain you during this difficult time.
