Bruno Mattivi Obituary

Bruno J. Mattivi, 90, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of 100 Cuneo Rd., Kersey, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018 at Elk Haven after a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 15, 1927 in Kersey, son of the late Augustino and Aurelia Mattiuz Mattivi. He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Kersey schools. Bruno was a retired employee of the Keystone Carbon Company, retiring in 1993 after 20 years of service. He was also a former employee of the Stackpole Carbon Corporation.
On Nov. 10, 1956 in the St. Boniface Church, Bruno married Rose Copella, who survives.
Bruno was a member of the St. Boniface Church and served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany from 1950-1952 and in Korea from 1955-1958. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Dagus Mines American Legion, the North American Hunting Club and the National Rifle Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Shirley Donachy and her husband Paul and Diana Brennen and her husband Brian, both of St. Marys; a grandson, Ryan Thomas; two great-grandchildren, Paris and Talon Thomas; three sisters, Ann Uhl, Isabella Mattivi and Lucy Gnan and her husband Leander, all of St. Marys; a brother, Edward Mattivi and his wife Mary Ann of St. Marys; two sisters-in-law, Jean Mattivi of Raleigh, North Carolina and Barbara Schatz and her husband Don of St. Marys; and by a brother-in-law, Terry Shannon of St. Marys.
In addition to his parents, Bruno was preceded in death by five brothers, Casey, John, Renaldo, Irvin and Raymond Mattivi.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Bruno J. Mattivi will be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Ross Miceli, pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the Fox Township Servicemen's Burial Detail. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is at the St. Boniface Church Gathering Space on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Elk Haven Nursing Home, 785 Johnsonburg Rd., St. Marys, Pa. 15857 or to the St. Boniface Church, 355 Main St., Kersey, Pa. 15846.
