Buddy Thompson Obituary
Buddy Ray Thompson, Jr., 57, died Saturday, May 19th, 2018, at Duke University Medical Center.
He was the loving husband of Cindy Thompson and a wonderful father to his two sons Trey and Cory.
He was born in Lynchburg, VA on November 19, 1960, the son of Buddy Ray Thompson, Sr. and Charlene Ranson Thompson of Little River, SC. He was a member of Rocks Baptist Church, Pamplin, VA, owner of Beaver Creek Duplexes, off campus CCU student housing in Conway, SC. Buddy was a sports coach and mentor to not only his sons but to many young men over the years. He was an avid Coastal Carolina University sports fan. Buddy was a friend to all who knew him, his presence always filled the room.
In addition to his wife, children and parents, Buddy is survived by his sister Cheryl Sibilia and her husband, John of Longs, SC; and his beloved Golden Retriever, "Sadie". He was preceded in death by his brother, Robbie Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church, officiated by the Reverend Daryle Bush. Burial will be at Rocks Baptist Church in Pamplin, Virginia.
The family will receive friends at Lee Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 22nd.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Chanticleer Athletic Foundation, P.O. Box 261954, Conway, SC 29528 or the American Cancer Society.

Cindy, Trey, and Cory,
I am so sorry for your loss! Every time I met up with Buddy, whether it be on Beaver Creek, CCU, or on the phone, we always laughed! I will always remember him as a friend who I could laugh with no matter what we talked about! I am sorry I could not make the viewing or funeral. I'm on the way to Washington DC with my 11 year old son Chase for his 5th grade field trip. I know if I asked Buddy if he wanted me to go on the trip or to his funeral he would say "go on the trip man, I'll be good." I send my condolences along with the CCU Police Department.

Buddy could light up the darkest room when he entered and bring cheer when someone was feeling low. I was fortunate to have Buddy, you and your children touch my life and share his passion for golf through the Hackers. I pray that God will give you peace and comfort at this time. More than a coworker, Buddy was an eternal friend to Phil with a work ethic very seldom seen. He was a big brother to our girls, and a Southern gentleman to me. We will miss his practical jokes (you never knew when to believe him), his smile and his choice of restaurants. Many happy memories will live on in the "Buddy stories."
This picture is how I always think of him and illustrates his relationship with Phil to a T. There are no words to describe our entire family's grief. Our hearts and tears are with you all at this dark time. Marj & Phil
