Burnell "Bud" W. Engle, age 82, of Citrus Springs, FL, passed away December 22, 2017 at his home with his wife by his side. Bud was born on June 26, 1935 in Whitney County, IN to Sheldon and Dorothy (Miller) Engle. Bud moved to Palm Beach County from Indiana in 1966 with his wife Norma and to Citrus County in 1992 from Palm Beach County, FL. He retired after 30 years as a Postman and he was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War, serving in Kodiak, Alaska and then on the U.S.S. Oriskany, CVA 34 (which is now an artificial reef off the coast of Pensacola). Bud's memberships included the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Hernando, FL and the American Legion, Wall-Rives Post #58 in Dunnellon, FL. Bud was very talented in woodworking and made it his hobby after retiring making several pieces of furniture and clocks for their home.
In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his Step father, George Parrett, Sr.; his brothers, David Engle and James Engle.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Engle; brother, George Parrett, Jr; several nephews and nieces.
Private cremation will take place under the direction of Brown Funeral Home and Crematory in Lecanto, FL. Memorial services will be held at 10 A.M. on January 8, 2018 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Hernando, FL. Interment will be at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
