Burnice Joseph Segura Obituary
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Friday until service time.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Segura passed away at 7:30 am on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at his residence.
Mr. Segura was employed at the Avery Island Salt Mine for 41 years and was the owner and operator of Segura's Bar and Grocery from 1959-1973.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and loved fishing, dancing and carpentry work.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years Lucy Champagne Segura of New Iberia; two daughters, Gail S. Frederick and husband Gilbert of Lydia and Phyllis S. Bourque and companion George "Mike" Worley of New Iberia; step daughter, Angie Bourque and husband Sonny of Breaux Bridge; step son, Matthew Bertrand and wife Paula of New Iberia; seven grandchildren, Guy Frederick, Gina Frederick, Gwen Sellers, Cody Bourque, Jory Bourque, Shane Segura and Lacy Demarcy; four step grandchildren, Natalie Bourque, Carly Bourque, Anna Bertrand and Sara Bertrand; twelve great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and one sister, Martha Lee Darcey of Port Neches, TX.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Hoffpauir Segura; two sons, Burnice "Buddy" Segura, Jr. and Keith Francis Segura; parents, Eraste Segura and Noela Landry Bourque; one brother, Johnny Segura and one sister, Jeanne S. Etie.
Pallbearers will be Guy Frederick, Shane Segura, Jeremy Frederick, Cody Bourque, Jory Bourque and Matthew Bertrand.
Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Boudreaux ,George "Mike" Worley, Gilbert Frederick, Mary Jane Galtier and Sonny Bourque.
Donations may be made in his name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
The family would like to thank all of the staff of Hospice of Acadiana; and Mary Jane Galtier.

I don't even know where to begin. I miss you so much already. I'm glad that you are in a better place and that is what comforts me. It won't be the same going home and not be able to drink coffee with you. Lord knows I will miss those times. I Love you so much for you gave me words of wisdom often. I only wish I would have taken more time out for us to go fishing when you were able. I will see you later as I would tell you, for we will meet again in Heaven.
