FRANKFORT - Burton Charles Williams, 72, passed away peacefully Dec. 15, 2008, surrounded by his loving family at his home, after a five-year battle with cancer. Burton was born April 3, 1936, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Charles A. and Annie J. (Frost) Williams. Burton was a graduate of Brooklin High School, Class of 1953. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he was an electronics technician. After his discharge, he joined the Air National Guard where he served for 22 years and then worked for the National Weather Service for 12 years. Burt was a selectman for the town of Frankfort, where he was integral in organizing the fire department, and the Grist Mill Park. Most recently he served on the Waldo Peirce Reading Room board. Burt was an avid wood worker and built many nice items including his own home. He enjoyed painting, computer games, traveling to many U.S. destinations, panning for gold, playing golf, and spending time with his family and friends at their camp in Brooklin. Burt will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. Burton is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty A. (Pervear) Williams of Frankfort; his loving children, Marcia Williams of Stockton Springs, Mark Williams and wife, Lora, of Tennessee, Debbie Moore and husband, Bradley, of Frankfort, and Lori Blank and husband, Dave, of Prince Edward Island, Canada; grandchildren, Daphne Thomas and Bob, Angela Paradis and Andrew, Mike Robbins, Karie Robbins, Ashley Williams, and Jordan Moore; great-grandchildren, Ethan Paradis, Landon Thomas and Emma Robbins; three nieces, three nephews; and a brother-in-law, George Pervear and his wife, Helen. Burton was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Williams. A memorial service to celebrate Burton's life will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at Verona Town Hall, 16 School St., Verona Island. Memorial contributions in Burton's memory may be made to CancerCare of Maine, care of Healthcare Charities, P.O. Box 931, Bangor, ME 04402-0931.
