Services for Byron Scott Griner of Thomasville are at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Steve Wooten will officiate. A private family interment is in Griner Family Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jeremy Mills, Lance Mills, Brent Runyon, Mike Stoker, Randy Stoker and Mike Barwick. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Green, Jody Green, Kyle Morris, Mark Morris and Jason Griner. Mr. Griner died March 30 at his residence. Born Oct. 12, 1965, in Thomasville, he was a son of Bryon Lee Griner and Martha Faye Mills Griner both of whom survive. He graduated in 1983 from Central High School where he was a member of the football and weight lifting teams. He loved to play softball, read and spend time with children. He was a member of Barnetts Creek Baptist Church and vice president of Griner Roofing Inc. Survivors include a daughter, Brittany Amanda Griner Waters and husband, Donnie of Lake City, Fla.; grandchildren, Jaylen and Donald Scott Waters of Lake City; sister, Dana Griner Wade (Steve) of Tyler, Texas; and nieces and nephews, Powell, Audra, Byron and Olivia Wade of Tyler. — Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home

It is with great sadness I hear of Scott's passing. He was an example of Great determination and dedication to the Yellow Jackets. He was my upperclassman whose name was noted for efforts made, example set and achievements accomplished. May God Bless with comfort as only He can during this tragic time of loss.
