C. Gerard Beck, lovingly known as Jerry, 83 of Greenville, SC, passed away surrounded by his family on August 6, 2021. Jerry is survived by his devoted wife, Janet Beck, 5 children Jerry, Heather (Craig), Barbara, Kevin (Amy), Ryan (April), and 10 grandchildren Megan, Wade, Mindy, Sarah, Melanie, Caleb, Nick, Skylar, Lydia, and Tate.

Jerry was born to Cyril Gerard Beck Sr. and Agnes Carol (Bahleda) Beck on May 3, 1938. He was the oldest of 7 children, Gina, Patricia (Dom), Chuck (Theresa), Bob, Dick (Joann), Eileen (Mike).

Jerry met Janet while both were working at Westinghouse in Pittsburgh, PA and then married in 1962. Jerry served in the US Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis reporting on February 1961 until he was discharged in 1967. He earned a bachelor's degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Metallurgical Engineering. His engineering career was spent at Westinghouse and General Electric, during which time he was awarded several patents.

Jerry was a devout Catholic. One of Jerry's favorite activities was spending time with family. Jerry liked to hike, bike, play golf, and take classes at Furman College. Janet - this is Betty (daughter of Isabel who sat with Jerry in the NHC dining room). I happen to see a mass for Jerry in the church bulletin and was saddened to see that he had passed. My sincere sympathy.
