C. Tom Stableton

C. Tom Stableton, 68, of Terre Haute died at 8:37 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, in Union Hospital’s emergency room. He was born Nov. 29, 1938, in Terre Haute to Claude T. Stableton and Opal M. Shumard Stableton. He retired from the former A and P Groceries, where he was a clerk. He then worked and retired after 25 years with the City of Terre Haute Waste Water Treatment Plant. Survivors include his wife, Judy Russell Stableton, whom he married March 3, 1961; three daughters, Tomi Ann Stableton and friend Stan Morse, Terri Richey and husband Steve, LeAnna Swearigen and husband Tom; one son, Mike Wilson and wife Gayle; a brother, John Stableton and wife Shirley; a sister, Ruth Heazeltine; five grandchildren, Stephen Richey, Christopher Richey, Nicole Richey, Michael Wilson and Mark Wilson; two great-grandchildren, Lydia Richey and Connor Wilson; two special nephews, Daniel Owen and wife Karen, David Owen and wife Denise; a niece, Carla Stoggsdill and husband Edwin; a great-niece, Kim Tummillo and husband Tony; and his special pet parrot, Alex. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mike Heazeltine, Jo Alice and Tince Wilson, Edith and Charles Owen.He was a graduate of the former Gerstmeyer Technical High School and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of Krietenstein Post 346 American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 291, and was an avid poker player.Services are 7:30 p.m. Thursday at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 35 E. Springhill Drive. Stephen Richey will give the eulogy. Cremation is scheduled. Visitation is 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
