Calvin Jiggetts, 77, peacefully entered eternal rest on Monday, October 25, 2021, at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia with his loving family and friends surrounding him.
Calvin was born December 26, 1943, to the late Clarence and Viola Jiggetts. He was a graduate of Dinwiddie County High School. Calvin possessed a genuine infectious love for people. He was employed by the Petersburg National Park System as a maintenance worker for over 40 years as a dedicated employee that was well-liked by his colleagues.
Calvin enjoyed the simple things in life. Nature and being outdoors were paramount to his existence. You could often find him "piddling" around the house to unwind, working on an old car for hours on end, or sitting under his favorite tree alone or with his family. This truly was living to him and he always had an open chair and a cold Pepsi for anyone who stopped by for a visit! If you happened to find him indoors, he was stretched out watching wrestling, westerns, or studying the Bible as he was an avid reader of God’s word.
Calvin was baptized according to Act 2:38 and he lived his life seeking to please his heavenly Father by showing love and offering help to anyone that he came in contact with. He was a proud member of New Covenant Sabbath Apostolic Church, in Richmond VA, where he served faithfully on the Deacon Board for many years. Calvin never met a stranger who didn’t deserve a smile or a quick encouraging word and he could often be counted on to brighten someone’s mood with his unique brand of humor and energy.
Calvin leaves to treasure his memory; his devoted wife of fifty-seven years Alease Jiggetts, 2 devoted sons; Tracy Jiggetts and Jerome Jiggetts of Dinwiddie VA; 1 devoted daughter Vanessa Cox (Patrick) of Chesterfield VA.
Three Brother: Joseph Jiggetts, Linwood Jiggetts (Ida), Howard Jiggetts (Colleen); 4 sisters-in-law: Meredith Jiggetts, Pearl Williams, Corine Williams, and Mary Roberts; 1 Brother-in-law; Willie Ridley: 4 beloved grandchildren; Jalanei Jiggetts, Kayla Jiggetts, Cash Cox, and Phoenix Cox, along with a host of family and friends that will remember him lovingly for years to come.
Funeral services for Calvin Jiggetts will be held at 12 noon, Monday, November 1, 2021, in the Mckenney Chapel. The body may be viewed on Monday at 9 am and until the hour of service.
Funeral services are entrusted to the professional staff- Joseph M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home, 530 S. Sycamore St., Petersburg, VA 23803 9804) 863-4411.

I met Deacon Calvin Jiggetts & his Wife about 47 years ago. He was an honest, diligent, kind, respectful, truthful, GOD Fearing, Man; who would help anyone that he could. Due to the miles and the COVID-19 virus, I haven’t seen him recently, but my heart is already missing this old Soldier. “In Peace, May heRest.”

Uncle Calvin you were the best kind of uncle. One who could guide with love and understanding. You were selfless. After my recent injury, I remember Aunt Alease saying you wanted to help her, help me. You offered to fold my clothes as l was still mending.
I couldn't wait to walk to the door knowing a kiss and hug was waiting. You were always happy to see me. "LULU come on in and sit down. Alease, get her something to eat or a Pepsi." ☺You made sure everyone else was okay FIRST. Grandma Jiggetts raised good men. You reminded me sooooo much of Dad. It hurt knowing you both aren't here but l rejoice knowing you were HOLY & you lived a life ..for this very moment... to live AGAIN!! Til we meet again.
