Calvin Jones, Sr. “Cal” or “Uncle Cal” was born October 16, 1931, in Cherie Quarters in Oscar, Louisiana, to Emanuel and Elsie Anderson Jones. He was baptized at an early age and was the eighth of eleven siblings. He was married to Minerva Marie Fontenet-Jones for 46 years until her passing in 1996. He later married Elaskia Lambert-Jones on April 22, 2000.
Calvin, Sr. was a truck driver in Beaumont, Texas. He worked 22 years for Oil City Brass and 15 years for the Wilson Supply Company.
Everyone knew Calvin, Sr. as a genuinely kind man with a caring heart. He was always willing to help anyone, especially his family. He was that person you could always talk to. He always wanted his kids to KNOW their PEOPLE (family).
Calvin, Sr. never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was the life of the party and always the sharpest dresser. He kept in touch with all his family and friends because he wanted everyone to know how much he loved them. He also enjoyed tinkering in his yard, gardening, hunting, and fishing around Sabine Lake.
Calvin, Sr. was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Christus St. Elizabeth hospital in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 89.
He joins his loved ones who preceded him his former wife, Minerva MarieFontenet-Jones; parents, Emanuel and Elsie Anderson Jones; sisters, Elizabeth J. Scott, Hazel J. Riley, Modesta J. Webb, Gracie Winn, and Lucinda Wright; brothers, Joseph Jones, Rev. Emanuel Jones, and Rev. Earnest Jones.

To the family of Mr. Calvin Jones, Mr. Jones will be missed greatly for his ever-present smile and joyful spirit. When i worked at Sears in the Auto Center he was my daily source of inspiration. I would hurry to work most days to make sure i had coffee ready. He would come by on his way home from work, not sure if he was a coffee drinker, but he knew I was making that first pot just for him. Our conversations would make me laugh, not much could break my spirit when having a tuff work day. He loved his family and always talked about his wife, kids and grandkids. You were blessed to have him in your lives. I am sure that he will always be looking and smiling down on his family and friends. I am honored to have known Mr. Jones.
