Harriet L. Kelly

Harriet L. Kelly, age 85, of Swansea, MA and Fripp Island, SC, died peacefully Monday, February 17, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at Sakonnet Bay Retirement Living in Tiverton, RI. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Francis L. Kelly Sr., who died in 2009. They were married for 59 years. Born in Quincy, MA, a daughter of the late Sarah (Gallagher) and Howard Keith, she had lived in Swansea for 60 years while wintering on Fripp Island, SC for the past 30 years.

Mrs. Kelly was an avid golfer who was a member of the Fripp Island Golf Resort. She has left a legacy of enthusiastic golfers and Fripp Island vacationers in the family. Together, she and her husband built a successful family business and also spent time researching the family's historical and genealogical background.

In addition to golf, Harriet enjoyed dancing, swimming, boating, skiing, shopping, and being outdoors, but her main passion was always her family.

Mrs. Kelly was the beloved mother to her sons; Francis L. Kelly Jr. and his wife Marjorie, Kevin M. Kelly and wife Nancy, all of Swansea and Jeffrey T. Kelly and his wife Lisa of Cranston, RI, her daughters; Patricia H. Malone and her husband Russell of Swansea, Siobhan Kelly of North Augusta, SC, Anne-Louise Douglass and her husband Thomas of Swansea; beloved grandmother to; Kathleen Kelly, Christopher Kelly, Pamela (Kelly) Robichaud, Michael Kelly, Kevin Kelly Jr, Jennifer (Kelly) Wilbur, Gregory Kelly, Jonathan Kelly, Alyssa Kelly, Kelly (Malone) Meehan, Ryan Malone, Sara (Malone) Potts, Brendan Malone, Meaghan Dendy, Keith Dendy, Brittany (Douglass) McMullen and Rebecca Douglass; beloved great grandmother to 13 great-grandchildren; Owen Meehan, Liam Meehan, Elliot Gauvin, Riley Malone, Ian Kelly, Jacob Kelly, Benjamin Kelly, Zachary Robichaud, Jocelyn Robichaud, Tripp Malone, Ainsley Kelly, Wyatt Potts, Abigail McMullen; She leaves many nieces and nephews and was sister to the late Howard (Bob) Keith, Edward (Bogie) Keith and William Leighton.

Her Funeral will be held Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10:00 in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Joseph Case High School Scholarship Trust Fund in Memory of Harriet and Francis L. Kelly Sr., 70 School Street, Swansea, MA. 02777. Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.
