Camilla Lee James passed away on November 3, 2016 at the Foothills Hospital, Calgary after a courageous battle with cancer.
Camilla was born on July 3, 1970 in Regina, Saskatchewan and was raised from birth by her parents, Ralph and Jean James. Raised in Lumsden, SK, and starting her career in Regina, she ultimately called Calgary her home.
Camilla had an uncanny ability to bring joy into every room and into every life she touched. While a hairstylist by trade, she maintained a strong commitment to giving back. She was a proud cheerleader with both the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Calgary Stampeders – and ultimately a coach for many years.
Camilla is survived by her son Tayemak Kelsick, her mother Jean James, and a special extended family. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph James.
She credits her mother, Jean, for unconditional love and unwavering support of her passions for art, skating, baking and dance. Her son, Tayemak Harold Azzante Kelsick, is her proudest accomplishment - and the legacy she leaves behind.
A Celebration of Life for CJ will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2016 in the Chapel of Eden Brook Funeral jl
Home (17th Avenue and Lower Springbank Road SW Calgary, AB). A Reception will follow. As this is a Celebration of CJ's Life, all guests are encouraged to wear bright colours. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made in her honour to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Calgary, AB, www.albertacancer.ca/donate/cancer-centres.

Camilla held several educational events at our school over the years and also came in and did classes for our students. Her passing is extremely sad news. I didn't know CJ well but we shared common friends and I used to frequent her salon, Quinn's in Kensington way back when. When I learned of her passing I immediately saw her in my mind as someone with vitality and a shining spirit. My deepest sympathies for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I was so sad to hear of Camilla's passing today. I enjoyed Camilla's enthusiasm and spirit when she would come and do a color class for us at the school. I was saddened when I heard she was sick, and now she is in a good place and is out of the pain she was going through.

My deepest sympathies to Tayemak, Jean, Anita, and the Kelsick family. I had the pleasure of working with Camilla; often we had to travel outside of Calgary, and frequently that was Lethbridge. After long days of sales calls and teaching classes, we would dine together at the hotel, and have a pop, and the "vietnamese rolls" - that Camilla introduced me to! These evenings would always be conversation about our children; Camilla always sharing stories and pictures of the "Love of her Life"- TAYEMAK! Camilla always has been, and will continue to be held in the highest regard of her peers in the beauty industry; she was most requested as an instructor, and would accept the panicked calls of any stylist at any hour.
You were a true and rare gem Camilla - Peace be with You.

Dear Family and Friends of Camilla...
I had the pleasure of meeting Camilla with the Saskatchewan Roughriders Dream Team back in 1991. Cam and one other Veteran Cheerleader took me under their wings and help me learn the routines and cheers and would practice with me in Cams basement. She always had a smile and always made me feel good about myself and proud to be a Rider Cheerleader. We kept in touch from time to time and am lost for words. Camilla will be dearly missed. I was so shocked to hear of CJ's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family. I had the pleasure of cheer leading with her for the Stamps for 7 years where she was a teammate and a coach. She was highly respected and always had a smile and words of encouragement; she definitely left lifelong memories with me.
