Presque Isle - Candace "Candy" Van De Kreeke passed away on February 6, 2025 after a long battle with cancer. She was born on March 15, 1949 to Leo and Beulah (Gosch) Breirather. Candy graduated from Sheboygan North High in 1967, when she married the love of her life, John Van De Kreeke, Jr. They celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Candy was a den mother and Brownie leader when her children were small. She lived and worked in the Sheboygan area until 1984 when the family moved to Omaha, Nebraska. Candy worked for the St. Joseph Center for Mental Health and Father Flanagan's Boys Town until retiring in 2011. They moved to Presque Isle, Wisconsin in 2016. Candy's hobbies were genealogy, painting, sewing, gardening, rock hunting on the shore of Lake Superior and watching the wildlife of Northern Wisconsin.

In 2009, John, Candy and their son, Troy, enjoyed traveling to Sydney, Australia where Candy met her cousins whose parent was originally from Austria as were her grandparents.

Candy is survived by five children, Dena Bliss of Watertown, WI, Troy Van De Kreeke of Ames, IA, Trevor Van De Kreeke (Mary) of Presque Isle, WI, Tracy Van De Kreeke Slavin of North Port, FL and Tricia Van De Kreeke Wolfe (Chris) of Omaha, NE. She had five grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary, Zane, Salina and Christopher and three great-grandchildren. Candy was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Roger and Alan Breirather.
